How I did it: well, I just reached my 4 miles on Monday, so today was just a bit more of a reach. I did run with a group of people, that is a big reason, and we did 4/1's (4 minute runs with 1 minute walks) Read how I did it…
How I did it: I started out unable to run even a single mile at a 12 min/mile pace, and three months ago was able to run 2 miles at a 12 min/mile pace. I can run 3 miles in less than a half hour. It takes me a little less than an hour to run 5 miles, but that was at an easy pace. My next goal is to push myself and do it in under 50 minutes! Read how I did it…
How I did it: One day I started thinking to myself 'I should challenge myself someday' and I started to think 'but what CAN I do?' Then out of the blue, I thought that if I can start by running a 5 mile run and actually finish it, I could start on doing anything, that is step by step. But before I could even run that 5 mile, I had to train myself day by day to get up to 4 mile. Sometimes I would be running alone or with a friend, just to have company. … Read how I did it…

but changed its name so it disappeared. Anyway, I had been thinking I should try a longer run so this morning (nice and foggy and after a rest day)I ran to Forestville and back. Really surprised by how easy it was – just kept going…. I guess the slow pace really works!
Kept in the 150s almost the whole way too – even with the mile long hill! Though my right knee is a bit ouchy right now and the two places that always get blisters have blisters. Tra la!

Well, I am feeling runners shame. I have not been running. I hurt my knee (not bad) right as it was getting into the hundred degree weather hear and I have only been running a couple times since. I know I will start when the cool weather starts, but I hate that I have really set my self back. I was probably half way to my goal and now I am back almost at the beginning!
I have a confession to make…Over Xmas break I was really busy and got off of my running schedule because of traveling and family plans. I told myself that I would start up my running again as soon as break was over, but I never really did…It’s been 5 months since then, but I’m finally picking it up again. I have found a great 5k schedule online that I’m going to follow, and once I reach that goal (as I have done it before), I will continue on with my 5 mile goal. Today I ran 1.5 miles and walked 1.5 miles, so I’m getting there!
Well, I hit a major road block on my way to this goal. I hurt my knee about a week ago. I only hurt it a little, but I am afraid to really hurt it because that would suck in countless ways. So, I R.I.C.E.’d it for a couple of days and I ordered a new pair of shoes because the one’s I was using were 9 years old. The insoles were brand new but the shoes were old. I am now missing my runs and discouraged because I have not gone this long with out running and it is going to be hard when I start up. It has also heated up considerably and I am going to have to do early or late runs to avoid the heat. I can’t wait to get my shoes!
I started running in January 09 and I couldn’t even run a quarter of a mile without a break. I am up to 3/4 of a mile straight and I can run about 2 miles overall. My over all trip varies depending on how much free time I have, but I would like to be able to run 5 miles overall by January 2010. I would like to be able to do it straight through.
I’m doing a triathlon this summer with a 4.5 mile run. This past summer I could run a 5k at my best, but let myself go through the fall. The last couple weeks I’ve started running again, starting at 1 mile, and adding .2 each run, trying to stick to 3 runs a week. My next run will be 2.3, so I’m almost half way. My goal is to get it done by July, when the tri comes around.
I was never good at running and I just stared the Couch to 5k plan a little while ago. I haven’t been doing it as often as I should, but the days I can’t get out there and run I at least try to get a good walk in. Now, for someone who couldn’t even run 1/2 a mile before feeling sick, I can run 1.75 miles straight as of today. I hope in another month or so I can get it to around 2.5, then continue to build up.
Its too cold! maybe I can pick it back up when the weather gets a little better.
