Now that I’m helping with set-up, I haven’t been late for church in a couple of months. I think I’ll mark this goal as done, so I can add something else! 13 months ago

On time again~ 13 months ago

maureenmcellI figured out how to do this!

I volunteered to get the coffee ready each Sunday. That works for me! 14 months ago

maureenmcellStaying home

Much as I love going to service, this morning I stayed home by the fire. I’m going to read and sew. 15 months ago

maureenmcellWeek One

Nope, not on time – almost 10 minutes late. Yes, I was finishing the tortilla soup for the potluck, but I want to be there for the start of the music and to show my respect. 15 months ago

We’ve been doing much better at this. I think the key for me is to make sure that we start eating our before church meal way before it’s time to get ready. There is still a little more room left for improvement, however, so I’m not marking it as done quite yet . . . 4 years ago

Stephen FrickIt's not impossable, yet its hard

I live in a rural part of Texas with my wife, and four children. Our church is 45 miles away, and getting there on time has been hard. Like any family with many children, organization is a key to success. Here are some steps I have taken and they might help:
1) Clothes out the night before to include shoes and socks. I’ve found that the shoes and socks are the things which actually take the longest to find on a Sunday morning, and matching socks and shoes are almost never to be found on Sunday Morning, having everything ready the night before saves that needed time.
2) Diaper bag always packed.. It’s really bad when you get 13 miles from home and that thought “Oh No! We left the diaper bag at home” very common for the new parents (and old alike). One thing we found is to have a ‘emergency’ diaper bag in the trunk of our car at all times, and saves on the backtrack!
3) Harmony – Often trips which are less planned tend not to have the same level of harmony. I’ve found to have things to keep the children occupied (like tapes, CD’s, games) in the car help to keep them from fighting. Also rules which don’t allow picking, nagging, or bad attitudes are a must. This way the trip doesn’t become a drag, you’ll want to drive your family to church because this is a great time for family bonding.
4) Sunday Breakfast. For our family making breakfast on Sunday morning was a huge drag on time, though eating out does cost, it saves in time. This is the one time of the week where fast food is allowed. If not fast food, then having something, which can be eaten quickly and without a mess in the car (granola bars, breakfast bars, pop tarts, etc.)
5) Pack the night before, Bibles, extra clothes, anything you need should be placed into the car the night before. 5 years ago

Stephen FrickWe've Been very successful at this goal

Over the past 3 weeks we’ve been at church on or before time. I think I can say that we’ve almost completed this goal! 5 years ago

Stephen FrickGot to church.. On Time this week

After last week, I decided that Getting to church is very important, especially for my Family. My children need the Sunday school hour, and I need the Adult Study. Too often I waltz in right before the Worship. My goal is to do this for at least a month. What I found was that we were prepared the night before: Clothes out, Breakfast ready to make, kids were cleaned the night before, and we had no reason to not eat and leave on time. 6 years ago

Stephen FrickWe were almost there yesterday... But...

This is no excuse, but Yesterday we had the schedule down, and we had the kids ready and everyone was in the car on time, we hurried down the road and were about 10 minutes from home when one of my sons begain to vomit, in the van… Not a very good thing. of course, being a kind and understanding father, turned our van around and came home. My wife stayed home with the baby and sick child, and I took the other two to church, needless to say, we got there… very late. This goes to show that behind every good task is something which will set it amuck. Next Sunday is another challange, and we will, with Gods Grace, get to church on time. 6 years ago

Stephen Fricklast few weeks have been bad

At least one person in the family has been sick, and we haven’t planned. I really want to get to church on time, and for us it takes an hour- so we have to be ready an entire hour before we need to be a church… - My goal is to be on time to Education (sunday school) which starts at 9:30 am every Sunday begining on October 30th for 5 Sundays. 6 years ago

Stephen FrickPlanning Ahead

Our Sunday is usually chaos in action, we wake, we dress, and we run out the door – most of the time without breakfast. I want to make a goal of being on time for Church (Education at 9:30am) which means we need to leave here no later than 8:30Am. My task today is to plan ahead, put out clothes, semi-prepair breakfast, bath children, pack and plan for the day. Much of our Sunday’s Chaos has more to due with the fact we don’t prepair and it becomes a major task. 6 years ago
