A fish with many finsMake meaning
A thought came up to me while I was in the mall.
Through the flurry of the thick crowd I realized that we all have become so preoccupied with our small lives. Life has transcended from survival, to the satisfaction of ego and desires. I think we have been living our lives passively. We are all at the helm of consumerism and the lures of the subtle dictates of the society.
Families and friends get together, spend precious time from their busy lives… some dress up for a dinner, some dote on their little ones as they try to walk by themselves… Some buy expensive jeans for their loved ones (I think they are overseas workers), some buy bags of merchandise on sale. Nothing wrong with these. I just think that people have become complacent and dependent on how the modern living cycle works: you work hard, you spend, you attend to your responsibilities, look forward to your next leisure time, then you go back to work.
The song “Sunscreen” by Baz Luhrmann always play in my mind: “Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
Understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.”
Strive to go beyond the norm, the self-imposed limitations… I won’t live forever so I should start now. 15 months ago
