for the sake of the glass being half full and having the bloody albatross off my back at last. But really, not having a sewing machine meant that the effort taken was quite disproportionate to the amount of times I’ll probably wear the thing. Oh well. Live and learn.
My general rule for buying clothes (not that I’m doing that anymore!) is that you need to wear it once for every pound sterling you spend on it, in order to get your money’s worth. Maybe I should invent a similar rule for sewing? One hour spent = 1 wearing?

it has begun
It will be finished tonight, mostly because I find having a December goal on ym January list aesthetically displeasing.
Thus spake melb100, arch sewer and master of skirts
currently wishing very much indeed that she had a sewing machine at her beck and call over here in Japan instead of loitering in a UK storage facility

I’ve lost my sewing stuff! I think I might have left it at the office. I’ll go in later today to check. In the meantime, if you see it, give me a bell. F*cking hems.

It’s already December 19th?? Where did the month go??
I suppose this is why I set myself monthly goals now, to ensure that stuff which would otherwise loiter untidily actually gets done, but really, how inconvenient!
How on earth I’m supposed to do this (you do realise that I don’t have a sewing machine, and have to spend endless hours sewing seams by hand, don’t you??), plus the cardigan sleeveless vest thing, plus those Christmas present scarves, I don’t know!
But I suppose wingeing about it on 43 things won’t get it done, more’s the pity.
So. Tonight I shall finish the green scarf and measure/cut the skirt pattern. If I have time I might even straight stitch the side seam. It would be nice to get it done before I leave on Friday, so that when I come back I only have the tanktop thing to finish knitting into existence. And I can knit K’s scarf whilst staying with T, so that can wait until after Friday and give me time to concentrate on the skirt.
Oh, what a kerfuffle!
Alright then, I will definitely sew the first seam tonight.
When it’s finished, I’m actually going to send a photo of it into the how-to-make-a-sewing-pattern website, don’t you know, because all that (as yet unspent) effort deserves to be honoured by sewers around the world.
