December goal: knit a cardigan

‘tis also being assimilated.

Stalled at the moment due to yarn shortage: almost finished the back though! Yarn shop tomorrow.

I have ripped up – technically “frogged” – the sleeveless striped monstrosity of an effort thus far, and spent my lunch hour today trying to work out measurements and row counts for the pattern I’m kind of sort of following. This took much mental dexterity given that

(a)I need to use the small size measurements for the width, and then the large size measurements for the length. This makes knowing when and where to decrease somewhat troublesome.

(b)my tape-measure doesn’t have inches. The pattern is American.

(c)my gauge is very different from that of the pattern (22s/28 rows = 14cm instead of 10)

I have been mentally nimble and noted down some measurements using only a pocket calculator and a rusty knowledge of how to calculate percentages.

The whole thing is very possibly a short cut to knitting disaster! _{But in lovely egg shell blue…}

I was going to pretend that I’d completed this goal just so I could get its December-ness off my brand new shiny January list. But I suppose that isn’t in the spirit of things. Maybe I’ll knit faster, who knows!

due to an, ahem, improvement, on the pattern I was supposed to be following, this goal may now involve knitting a tank top instead of a cardi.
