play ice hockey

On my recent trip home I found all my old gear in my dad’s basement. This gear is about 15 years old, but I only used it once for a week during a hockey camp. Luckily, I stopped growing when I was 12, so it all still fits. I brought it back to San Diego with me so I’m getting closer to the ice…

I love the game, yet I’ve never skated before.

The better it is! After you get a feel for the flow, know your positions better and have a better sense of prediction, the game just becomes that much more fun.

Even though I’m not scoring goals, my skating is better, I skate hard and win battles on my shifts and just my general hockey sense has greatly improved.

I love this sport!

I already play roller hockey, but ice hockey is SO BADASS. And besides, it’s totally hot when girls play ice hockey. ;]

After a year of teaching myself skating and stopping, playing foot and roller hockey here and there, I made the transition into playing ice. I still have a long way to go in becoming a better player, but I do lace up the skates twice a week now for about the past 3 months.

Best thing I’ve taught myself how to do in a long time!

been wanting to do this since i was a kid. even wrote a letter to the mayor when i was 10 trying to get an ice rink in my little ohio town. 16 years later, still no rink. and now i live in san diego which is hardly a hockey town. the only thing that’s changed is that now i can afford my own equipment…

I’m a fairly decent figure skater, or I was 6 years ago. I put on hockey skates once, but I was used to sharp blades as opposed to the rental blades. I think I could be a good hockey player. I went to a hockey game the other night and it re-invigorated the desire in me!

love this game! wish the ice rink was closer :(

A 56 year old man told me that as we walked out of the locker room on the first night of the summer beginner’s hockey class. 6 months later I convinced him, a 59 year old and a big batch of 20/30 somethings to form a team and compete in the D-Level adult hockey league! Its been a BLAST every single time.
