Emily is amazing. Listen to our podcast and check out the wonder that is the Fortner Writers’ Forum.
I’m just the voice. Em’s the know-how, ingenuity, common sense, giggle monster extraordinaire.

It’s there. on iTunes. You can search for it- “Fortner Writers Forum.” Isn’t that exciting? Now I have to delete the trial run of me reading the cummings poem before I embarrass myself. Also, I wonder if I can make the microphone more sensitive? I’ll check it out. Anyway, get ready, because by Friday, this goal will be on my COMPLETED list!!!
So Miss Mahgahrette posted a test run reading in that fabulous voice of hers and it seems like it’s going to work.
It posted as a *.wav file, though, and I’m wondering if maybe we should convert to mp3 before uploading? Would it be more accessible that way?
I also just fleshed out our profile a little more. Still need to add a picture. (At some point we might end up with a blog, which will probably offer more storage space than what we’ve got now, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.)
The most exciting part of all is that we submitted the feed to iTunes! It should be in the store soon. How great is that?

Here’s a link to a trial run in podcasting. Emily and I are, for the record, elated. ELATED!
(That’s me, reading “i love you much (most beautiful darling)” written by e. e. cummings)
So as Thursday comes closer – the first time we’ll be recording forum for a podcast! – I’m trying to figure out the next step.
We’ll need a place to host the audio files…I’m assuming we’ll need to talk to Computer Services or to someone in the department.
Or maybe there’s somewhere online if that doesn’t work out?
Then we’ll have to post the link to the iTunes Store. (Exciting!)

Today, Emily and I traveled to the faraway land of Southern Pines to hunt down a microphone that attaches to one’s iPod for recording things. Things like Writers’ Forum. Hooray!
The first Forum is this coming Thursday at 8pm. I can’t wait! It’s Open Mic, too, and now we can take that literally!

I’ve always thought that the best leaders in the world had one skill in common-thoughtful and precise delegation of tasks to people they trust and respect. With that said, Imma hafta delegate like a CRAZY bitch because I don’t understand anything I just read about how to create a podcast. I will say this: it dawned on me that the creative writing department will pay for a microphone, so that’s good. We don’t have to worry about using the mics from SINGSTAR or some shit. After that, how hard can it be? (NOTE: I don’t mean making the podcast, I mean finding some smart technically literate boy to do it for us.)

I am the host of the Fortner Writers’ Forum at St. Andrews Presbyterian College. It’s quite the honor, and I am very excited! My BFF (oh I said it) Emily had this fabulous idea to create a podcast for Writers’ Forum to which students, faculty, prospective students, friend of the college, random poets, etc. could subscribe. I think it is really going to make a difference in the creative writing department (we’re both CW majors) at SAPC. She knows the logistics of the execution, and I’ll take care of PR and advertising this new and improved Forum Feature. We have about six weeks before the first Forum of the spring semester, so I think we really can make it happen. Cheers!
