It is one of my favourite things in the world, and im getting semi okay…not that i care, i just like bashing them.

Vicky is determined to stay on here this time :)

Well I have to 2 years ago

convince my Dad to let me get one first. I know!!! If I save up for one then my Dad might be more inclined to let me get one because last year I wanted my laptop so I saved up for it and he let me get it :D. Yes the laptop won’t annoy the hell out of the neighbours or him but it was also double the price that a cheap drum kit will be. :D. He also let me get a trampoline after ages of saying that I wasn’t allowed one. Wow, I just realised how spoilt I am.

Buying a drum kit - I thought it would be far too expensive - and loud - I WAS WRONG!!! 2 years ago

Something I’ve always wanted to do is buy a drum kit and actually become good! My parents always discouraged me as they felt it would be too expensive and far too loud. Anyway, I was with my wife in Edinburgh, Scotland about 2 months ago and passed by a shop called Drum Central. I had a look about and the chaps serving were really nice and informative.

They showed me a package for £199 which included everything!! Hmmm…cheap…I left it because I wasn’t sure to trust the build quality and I still had my oldies voices in my head saying ‘NO!’ far too loud etc…

Anyway, I jumped on their site a few days after and bought the kit for £199 free delivery. There were cheaper kits elsewhere on the net but I heard that the CB kits are the best starter kits out at the mo. I bought some silencer pad thingmys at the same time for £40 so I can hammer away in my flat for hours and never annoy a soul!! awesome!!

SO…YES!! DO IT…DO IT NOW!!! The best thing is, if you end up hating it or change your mind later on, the CB kits apparantly sell on for great money via ebay etc…so you can’t really go wrong!! DO IT GUYS…YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!!!

Heres the site i got mine from: www.drumcentral.co.uk
Probably the cheapest price in the UK but shop around and then go back to them because they match any price in the UK and will ship for free!!

I have it, i just dont have it yet... 2 years ago

    thrashing 2 years ago

i don’t want to learn to play drums, i just want to have a way of letting out alot of stream very noisily, so having a drum kit to thrash would be great…

    ON HOLD 3 years ago

too much else going on. one of these days when i have some money & free time to play around with (if that ever happens, crossing my fingers), i’ll make it happen.

done, kind of 3 years ago

After owning an orphan floor tom for several years and looking for for months, I took a plunge to pick up some nice Pearl pieces to match, plus some Paiste and Zildjian cymbals. It has taken a few patient months, but is only lacking some aesthetics now.

It looks cool and sounds cool, but I was rushed at the drum store, and got a white resonant bass drum head that wouldn’t look right live, but should be fine for recording. I have to remember to take my time on such things, even if it is less than convenient for others..

I need to practice rudiments on the snare drum, and work towards getting a place to play. I got some wire brushes (which scuffed the shiny black bass head) and need to get a snare drum head designed for them.. I’ve been jamming with some other guys, and they want me to play bass, but I like the drums too. I’m not sure if I’ll settle down to one or the other.

    Happy 4th!
