I’ve been reading a lot about detoxing lately, and I’m rather intrigued. I think I want to start off by trying a three day detox then gradually over time increase to a week +.
I want to cut out everything but water, fruits, and veggies for my first 3 days.
How to detox my body
How I did it: Quit all meds -- BC, spiro, and antibiotics. Since last fall, I've been getting my appetite back; I cut out refined sugars, switched from cow milk to soy, and tried to exercise again.
Mainly, I'm taking just vitamins, probiotics, natural supplements, and drinking TONS of tea and water!
Lessons & tips: Your body will feel better in some ways; in others, it will take a long, long time. But in the end, to feel like yourself again, and be free from the chains of peddled doctor drugs and 'quick fixes'!!!
Resources: Yogi teas, Sigg aluminum water bottles (so as not to be drinking out of cheap plastic), Culturelle probiotics (for anti-candida)

My diet is generally:
Breakfast – Either a banana or cut up fruit (strawberries, banana, grapes)
Snack – Almonds, raisins
Lunch – Brown rice with tomatoes and onion, black beans
Snack – Carrots and broccoli with organic spinach hummus, or an orange
Dinner – A salad (baby spinach, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, red pepper) with 1 tsp. of Lite Italian dressing (I know, my one non-detox item!) And, if still hungry, more brown rice.
With some Yogi Detox Berry tea and lots and lots of water.
I’m really starting to get used to eating this way! Overall, I think I can incorporate this type of eating into my daily ritual, even once my detox is completed :-)
... and I’ve been thinking it would be a great idea. I need to rid myself of all the sugar I’ve been eating, the caffeine and fat, all of the icky foods I know are terrible for me and I have slowly been adding back to my diet.
SO. I’m going to start out with a strict detox for one week starting on Sunday: based on raw fruits and vegetables, LOTS of water and lemon water, herbal tea, pumpkin seeds and brown rice. I’ll slowly add back more healthy things, and live at the health foods store.
I’ve never actually dieted before; Give me the will power!
does it count towards detoxing that I am smoking only 1 cigarette per day and not even every day but more like every other day? I think I am steadily progressing on the way to non-smoking :)
Jenny Johnson can now be found elsewhere
I’m still on just day one of the program and I’m surprised at how quickly it started working in clearing me out but in a completely friendly way. It just feels natural. I like it.
Jenny Johnson can now be found elsewhere
It came in the mail today. I’m going to start it as soon as I get back to Pittsburgh!! :D

to help me out with this goal!!
and I think it’s a fabulous opportunity: basically it asks me to be vegan for 40 days (Nov 15 to Dec 24) with fish allows most of the time and a strict fast for the last week, which I plan to turn into a 3 day detox period using this diet that I found on the net: http://life.gaiam.com/gaiam/p/123-Detox-for-Radiance-HowTo.html I am beginning to feel really the need to detox, it’s like my body is screaming: I NEED TO CLEAN UP PLEASE!!! I think the plan is going to work out just fine and I need to take the following steps:
1. explain to my roommates (we have the dinner-cooking thing) – should not be hard because they like veg anyways
2. start a blog to document the experience
3. look up veg recipies
4. stock up on nuts – wlanuts, etc. preferably from the market, raw and unsalted
5. ask roommates how to use juicemaker and actually use it everyday to get vitamines.
6. buy nettle tea
7. buy green tea
8. slowly substitute coffee for green tea
9. find a health foods storr
10. buy and eat raw pumpkin seeds
11. sign up for th gym
12. excercise at least every other day + use the sauna
13. print out orthodox fast postulates and post in my office
Yes I only did 5 of the 10 days but it did make a difference and I do plan on doing it again with the second half. If anyone is going to be doing a colon detox, be warned that you are going to want the best toilet paper that you can afford and even then things can get sore from how often you will be going. Still it was clearly worth it to the extend that I did so as things seem to be more regular with less effort.
I started a 10 day detox program today from Garden of Life called Perfect Cleanse. I know some of the online literature suggest using it for 30 days instead of 10 for the maximum detox of your colon and liver. Depending upon how the first 10 days go I may or may not buy another 10 day supply at the local health food store. Not sure if I’ll post daily updates but I will keep everybody up to date about how it is going.
