I’ve neglected my wrist exercises and stretches for weeks now, at least on any consistent level, but the Joint-Gods must be smiling down on me because I haven’t had any pain or give-way weakness in all that time either. Strangely, Marty’s wrist started giving him similar troubles, so now we have little his’n’hers dumbbells placed throughout the house at the feet of our most common seats. I intend to resume a daily routine of 2 or 3 sets a day, to prevent future troubles, but really I think I can mark this off now.

Twice over the weekend my wrist completely, violently, gave out when I was holding things. Admittedly, both incidents occurred when I was holding fairly heavy things, but still, this is a development in the wrong direction.

I’m upping my exercises with the 5-lbs weight to twice daily.

Just because I haven’t posted about it, doesn’t mean I haven’t been doing my exercises. As a matter of fact, I’ve done at least two sets of 15 reps every day for four days in a row now.

Unfortunately, my wrist feels even weaker and more painful than before I started. Doh!



This morning 2 years ago

Forgot to do my exercises last night so I did 2×15 reps this morning. Wrist hasn’t hurt me in two days – woo hoo!

I did two sets of 15 reps with the 5-lbs barbell again last night, followed by some good long stretches.

I did two sets of 15 reps with the 5-lbs barbell on Sunday night. I forgot yesterday. Must remember this aft/eve.

My left wrist hurts again. I went through physiotherapy last year for this same problem. It seems that my extensors are small and weak due to under-use, but my flexors are still good and strong, such that when I grip with any force, the normal muscle opposition is absent.

Simply put, I have to get those damn dumbbells back in action.
