Roger and Haiden FINALLY got to play last weekend!! Roger and I were in NH for Jess’s birthday Saturday. For most of the afternoon, Roger stayed at my parents’ house while I was at the fair with Jess and her family, but then for the cake and presents, Roger joined us at Suzanne’s house. She’s got a great big deck with gates at the stairs, so the two boys were able to toddle around and get to know each other!!
Haiden LOVED to feed Roger treats, and each time he would clap and laugh! Roger liked him so much he even let Haiden get away with being a little rough with his petting… Haha, it’s a work in progress, off to a wonderful start! 3 years ago

Oh boy! Jess is coming to see my new place on May 10, so she and Haiden will meet Roger! I’m so excited, but a little nervous. Roger has been very patient with other little kids he’s met, and he can certainly move faster than Haiden. I just want it to go as smoothly as possible! Jess and I will be ready with lots of treats for both of our baby boys :) 3 years ago

Okay, I finally have all of Haiden’s presents in hand, or at least ordered. I got him a couple cute little polo shirts and tracked down Good Dog Carl, but I still needed something more. Finally, I realized – MUD BOOTS!! Their driveway mud is measured in inches (only 5 inches this week!) and as he continues toddling, that mud’s gonna be great fun. What goes with mud boots? Why, a rain coat of course! Those are still in transit, but I had the order shipped to my folks so hopefully they’ll arrive in time for Saturday afternoon’s festivities. And if not, they’re at least in the right zip code, even if I don’t get to see him open them. And hopefully everything is the right SIZE!!!
I wanted to get him garden tools, but decided those could wait until next year. Besides, I still plan to get him an apple tree later this spring!!
Ugh, kids are expensive—and he’s not even mine!! Well, yes he is. So THAT’S why they say it takes a village!!
I reminded his grandmother about the 529 account, which is still short of the minimum balance to actually open the account. Hopefully some older, wealthier, non-shopping inclined relatives will opt to send big ol’ checks… 3 years ago

Finally uploaded to youtube the videos of Haiden be-bopping around. His uncle Josh is abroad in Italy for the semester, and is VERY upset to be missing milestones – first steps, first birthday, etc.

Just sent out the checks (FINALLY!!) to officially open Haiden’s 529 College Savings account, and the seeecret account!
Also, I’ve fallen in love with the ‘Carl’ series of picture books! At Borders last night I asked for baby and puppy books, since I’m getting a dog in the spring and Haiden doesn’t know any dogs yet. I was shown to a section with the texture books (Pat the bunny style), but none really stood out. A little more browsing rewarded me with Carl!! Only one opening and closing sentence, the rest of the story is told in beautiful illustrations by Alexandra Day. There’s a whole series – oh gosh look, there’s a whole website! http://www.gooddogcarl.com/ 4 years ago
