I hope that now that most of it is “out of sight, out of mind”, I do’t just let it sit there!

I think this was a rousing success!
My boyfriend noted that we have an awful lot of kitchen stuff for people who don’t really cook, but I’m very happy with the extra space I have on my bookshelves and in my closet. I could have purged more, but I feel like I did pretty well without throwing out stuff en masse.

my friend L. and I have decided to have a party a couple times a month, to get through our respective boxes of papers (I have a couple at home, and some boxes and binders at the office).
great idea! and my only suggestion would be to NOT choose a foreign film…subtitles!

to get rid of stuff. I think this will be easier this move. already I have made a goodwill run, returned some stuff to my sister and moved a bunch of stuff to the clinic, where it will stay until I decide what to do with the rest of my life.
Yesterday I packed up a good chunk of the stuff in my kitchen cabinets—5 whole boxes. I still have more to do, but I need to get more boxes and tape first. I’ve also realised that while I have stuff to toss out [yesterday’s carnage included a lot of sanding sugar and sprinkles], I mostly just have to pack. Things will shake out as I go through them, but I’m ready to mark this one as done and start really, really packing!
Before my boyfriend moved in with me, I spent some time cleaning out things and finding new space so his stuff would fit. Now that we have a closing date and sorta know when we are going to move, I need to go through the house and start packing things up and finding more things that I don’t want to move with me. The challenge is that we’re bursting out the seams with stuff. I have no more space in the back room, and piles of his stuff, stuff for the renovation, etc. sitting around here. My usual overflow spaces are totally full already.
I have a bunch of things to finish off today, but I’d love to start boxing more things up early this week…

collect so much stuff in such a short time? it’s kind of like when you travel…the bigger the pack, the more stuff you HAVE to take. my goal is to travel as lightly as possible.
so far, I just have been moving my stuff from my place to my office, so that the day of/week of isn’t hell. but now I need to think about really getting rid of some stuff. that surfboard that I never use (at least not until I move to santa barbara), the two extra bookshelves with those books I already read, my sister’s snowboard and vacuum cleaner, and the bread maker that I just have to hang onto for whatever reason.

i threw out a bunch of freezer burnt food, mostly bananas that i froze once they went brown spots. so much for all of that banana bread i was going to make. i’ll do better next time!

The last carload of clutter went. All that remains is some trash (down to the dumpster) and packing.
Good thing, the movers are going to be here in less than 48 hours.

and I think only one carload to go. I’m nearly done!
