i’ve been amazing at this the last four weeks. it’s probably basic for a lot of people, but it’s been a consistent challenge for me my whole adult life. administration has never been a strength of mine. but i think a little intention + action can catch me up with the rest of responsible society.
i’m calling this done because it has been a month, but it’s conditional upon me staying on top of my mail for always. as soon as the pile starts, it’s going right back on the list. but i think i am ready to face the world of bills, creditors, catalogues, notices, and all that. i’ve realized that they’re not that scary, and it’s not that hard.

i have been notoriously bad at this all of my life, but i’ve been good about it recently, which gives me hope. i can mark this done when i have zero mail in my mail pile for a full month. i’ll count today as day one.

I realize...

that if I did this every day my process for preparing for apartment inspections would be considerably easier and shorter.

I need to start paying attention to this one. I might be able to make progress on the piles around the house if I didn’t keep adding to them with unprocessed mail.

- Each weekday evening, upon entering building, produce mailbox key.
- Do not panic/rationalize/wimp out.
- Open mailbox; remove all items.
- Deposit fliers from takeaway restaurants, psychics, financial advisors, etc., in junk-mail bin.
- Take elevator to 13th floor; open door.
- Put down bags, shopping, etc.
- Open AND READ all mail.
- Perform any required action. If time of day prevents action being taken, place letter(s) needing attention in bag to be taken to the office the following morning.
- The following morning (after coffee but before email), take any remaining necessary action.
