Well, I ended up with just one child after all. We are going ok and doing some nice things – things that I wish someone had done with me when I was young. I think the truth really is that ever child needs a mentor.
but I am conscious I see more of my mentee than I do my own young family members and that makes me feel uncomfortable

Feedback from a neutral party suggests the girl is really enjoying our time together. About to take on a second child, who I really already spend alot of time with. Probably the second one will be alittle more challenging. But it seems like an easy way to make someone else happy.

Have met child and parent. Was to have done something on Sunday but mix up of times means the first appointment is tomorrow afternoon.

My donkey plan lead to befriending two neighbourhood children. Which lead to me making contact with a local mentor service to see if they could be assisted. Which lead to me volunteering to mentor a completely different child. Have done the training now waiting for the paperwork to clear and to be introduced.

Mentor a child
This past summer while life guarding in an underprivileged neighbor hood I met a kid who had his mind set on learning to swim he was 8 years old and the first thing he did was run straight for the deep end…every day. After fishing this kid out of the pool at minimum of 3 times a day I decided to teach him to swim and save myself some trouble. Boy did this plan backfire, I ended up making a friend and actually teaching this kid something he enjoyed which he valued more then anything. I want to help another child with life,to be the helping hand that someone needs to make it through the day.

It takes a village, and this is one important task I think I am well-suited to complete.
