LPBraun needs to do some cardio & posture exercises!
I did an iodine skin test (not sure if this test works) a couple weeks ago and it disappeard in less than 3 hours! I’m shocked because I have been taking a drop of Iosol almost daily (along with a crappy multivitamin).
I did the test again last night starting at 6:30pm. It is just barely visible at 5:30am. Wow, this time it lasted about 11 hours! I haven’t been taking Iosol lately, but I have been making sure that I take my new, different multivitamins. That is the only thing I’ve done different since the last test.
I just took a drop of Iosol awhile ago. The bottle says to take up to 3 drops/day. I will take 3 drops daily and retest in a week. I hope that I can remember. If the skin test doesn’t last longer than 11 hours, I will conclude that Iosol doesn’t work.
I have been feeling worse since I started back on my thyroid med, but will keep taking it because my doctor is going to test again soon. I don’t want to get dropped as a patient for not being compliant. I really like her. Besides, I stopped taking it for about 6 months and my thyroid stayed exactly the same when retested. I do think that I had more energy when I took the tyrosine. But, I’ll work on my iodine this week before doing anything else.

LPBraun needs to do some cardio & posture exercises!
As of right now, I’m just taking 2 GNC multis which I just started on 11/06/09, my 50mcg levothyroxine, and iron + C (when I remember). Of course, the levo. has to be seperated from the others by hours. I’m not sure if the Iosol and Tyrosine are helping my lab results, so I don’t want to concentrate on those too much. I’ve got to remember to take my iron to bring my ferritin lab up. I’m just kinda iffy about the GNC multi though because it does contain ingredients that block thyroid function. But, I feel better taking it and my thyroid labs were better when I took it years ago.

I read where a girl took GNC vitamins and quit soy and normalized her thyroid. Or, that’s what she thinks. I didn’t have my thyroid problem when I took those vitamins. Also, I didn’t consume soy then either. Anyway, just jotting this down to give me some other options. I know soy is a thyroid blocker, but I just wonder if it’s really that simple. A lot of people don’t eat soy and still have thyroid problems. Also, I believe GNC multi has soy isoflavones in it. I do want to change my multi though. I felt really good on the GNC vitamins. If I remember right.

Right now I am taking my 50mcg levothyroxine while also taking Iosol, iron, and vitamin C (I’m iron deficient). I’m glad that I actually saw my blood test after being off my levothyroxine for about 6 months. Off of medication, my TSH was 11.66 and FT4 (free thyroxine) was 0.82. I’ve got to figure out how to get that darn TSH down naturally. I don’t think the tyrosine and Iosol are helping my numbers. But, I do think I feel better when taking tyrosine. I’ve been one moody bitch since I stopped taking it about 2 weeks ago. I guess I need to start again. I’m kinda working on eating more animal protein (been vegan for >5 yrs.), less soy, adding eggs & milk back into my diet, and getting back in shape. If nothing else, I could use some muscle to increase my metabolism. I’m still doing good with exercising 30 min/day. I’ve stopped drinking & cut back on caffeine also. Well, it’s been about a week. I’ve been thinking back to when my hypothyroidism was diagnosed & how my diet & lifestyle was then. I started off taking 25mcg until I became vegan and started eating soy and other goitergenic foods (especially broccoli). Then it was increased to 50mcg. I used to be in decent shape and loved to exercise. I’m thinking that I need to adopt my older lifestyle back.

LPBraun needs to do some cardio & posture exercises!
My chloride was 113 on 01/30/09
My chloride level has improved to 109 on 10/05/09
I will continue to take 1 drop of Iosol daily to see if it can remove more chloride which will inturn raise Iodine level to support thyroid. Also, I read that anemia can raise chloride levels. I am taking iron for iron deficiency, so maybe that’s helping. Also, there’s a major link between iron deficieny & anemia and hypothyroidism.

LPBraun needs to do some cardio & posture exercises!
Today I started taking my 50mcg levothyroxine again because doc said she is going to check my levels in 6 weeks. For some reason I can’t bring myself to tell her that I haven’t been taking it. I am almost positive that my symptoms were worse will I was taking that shit, but I’ll start it up again for a while and see what happens. I’ve been off the med for about 6 months & my dosage is still the same as before. I don’t feel like I was trying hard enough to improve my thyroid while off the med. I can always try to improve my levels while taking the meds & maybe being on the med will push me harder than being off the med (because that obviously didn’t work). Hopefully the med will give me more energy to work out & increase my muscle mass which will then increase my metabolism naturally. Well, we’ll see…..a whole new journey. I will supplement with 1 drop of Iosol/day & 1 1/2 tsp tyrosine powder/day. Also, increasing my iron level & protein intake can definitely help. These are supplements that I have been meaning to routinely take, but I never stick with it. The Kinesiologist dosed me for the iron, tyrosine, & Iosol….I guess I’ll see what happens in 6 weeks. I feel that exercise & being active will make the biggest difference. I need to work on that. Also, I noticed that my med dosage increased after being vegan for about 5 years…..maybe due to needed protein, iron, etc. Most hypos are usually iron deficient while most hypers are copper deficient. My kinesiologist also said that I am highly sensitive to copper. Oh well, who knows?! Trial & error!

LPBraun needs to do some cardio & posture exercises!
My doctor asked me if I was still taking my levothyroxine & I for some reason said yes. It was probably because I didn’t want to be lectured about it. I took myself off of it about 6 months ago because I wanted to see if I could use natural supplements instead. I decided to use tyrosine & Iosol, but I have not been taking them religiously. Well, doc decided to check thyroid (yikes!). I was taking 50mcg, so I wasn’t surprised when the nurse called today & said they are increasing my dose to 100mcg. That’s technically still 50mcg for me since I haven’t been taking it.
Problem is, they want to recheck levels in 6 weeks. I guess I’ll take my 50mcg till then. Maybe it will push me to take the tyrosine & Iosol as well as workout more to increase metabolism. I know that low iron can cause hypothyroidism (which I have). I also feel that if I increase my muscle mass it will increase my metabolism. Just one of my many theories. Maybe if I get a game plan, I can surpass the test in 6 weeks. It would be awesome to hear her say, “we need to lower your dose”. The only thing that really worries me though is that I’m not sure if I can handle the tyrosine, Iosol, & levothyroxine. Just tyrosine & Iosol alone make me quite jittery. I don’t want to start getting heart palpitations. That’s what pushed me to quit taking it in the first place. But, maybe a 6 week trial could prove useful. I see a challenge coming on!

LPBraun needs to do some cardio & posture exercises!
After doing some thinking, I believe that this chiropractor/nutritionist may be on to something. She told me that my thyroid disease is due to a problem with my thymus gland. I honestly thought she was crazy until I just realized where the thymus gland is and remembered that my breast bone was chipped during a breast augmentation (to be able to insert the implants closer to achieve more cleavage). I believe the thymus gland is right where the surgeon chipped. I have had some sharp sporadic pains in the past and knew it was because of the bone being chipped. I wonder if that pain has been because the bone was poking into my thymus. Or, maybe the plastic surgeon jabbed my thymus with his surgery tools or something and caused permanent damage to it. Who knows!

LPBraun needs to do some cardio & posture exercises!
09/25/09 – Went for kinesiology today! I was told that the problem is not my thyroid! She told me that the problem lies in the thymus? That’s interesting. I did read that the thymus supports the thyroid, so we’ll see. My thymus scored a 3 on her scale. (A 10 is good). My thyroid checked out okay. I need to research the supplements that she gave me and see how they are going to help me. She also said that my body doesn’t like kelp or dulse, but it loves the Iosol that I’ve been taking. I love Iosol! It’s cheap and lasts forever! She told me to take 1 drop a day of Iosol and 2400 mg of L-tyrosine a day according to my test. I would highly recommend having one of these nutrition tests (also known as muscle testing) done. The results will probably be different for each individual. This was the first time that I have had this done & it felt worth it! It is a very odd and entertaining method of testing! Very worth the $35 it cost (normally $75). You are not obligated to buy any supplements. It was a fun experience! I also found out that I am highly sensitive to copper which is probably why I am iron deficient. Your body needs iron and a good working liver (mine tested as a 6 out of 10) to help thyroid function. I’m happy that I quit taking my levothyroxine, I have felt so much better since. I want to fix the problem, not cover it up. I believe the neck adjustments are seriously helping also.

Hey there,
does anyone know if taking kelp supplements can help an underactive thyroid?
