I have the unfortunate disposition to love piercings and tattoos, but hate needles. My first serious piercing was a 14 gauge helix, which healed without any problems and is now entirely painless.
I started thinking about it about a week before I did it. I did lots of research about the risks, what to look for and read lots of experiences on BMEzine. After figuring out what I wanted, I had to choose a studio. I didn’t go back to the studio that did my helix, as in retrospect some of their sterilization procedures weren’t all that great.
I chose The Fall, in Vancouver, as the piercer was known for his quality, and had lots of experience. After getting my parents permission (I’m 21, but I live at home while I’m going to school, and their opinions are important to me). I finally went on Canada Day (July 1) with my boyfriend, hoping that I’d be able to get pierced then and there. Before I got too anxious and chickened out. Luckily, the piercer was just out for a minute and would be back sortly. So I had time to fill out the paperwork, and peruse the portfolios of the resident tattoo artists and piercers.
The entire process was very sanitary, quick and only a bit painful. I’ve had it for almost a week now, and it just feels like a dull, slightly itchy tenderness now. I love it, will baby this piercing, and hopefully get an industrial in late December or next year!

I’m on my way. I’ve got $135 saved up, and I’m trying to find a cheap, but freakishly sterile place to get it done. (it is turning out to be immpossible). I also have to lose about 10-15 pounds by July if I want it done during the summer, (which I do), so I’m getting there, I only have a few more things to do.

I got mine 5 years ago when I turned 16 and I still love it. If you really want one, go for it :)

I was only able to wear it for a couple of years, and then I got pregnant. Even if I can get my belly to be flat again, I would have to get it repierced. No thank you.

Really, having a belly-button piercing is not such a huge deal. I got it for my 15 birthday, because I told my mother I would do it myself if she didn’t take me. Plus, if you hate it, its easy to remove and just a tiny little scar.

I’ve had mine done for about 3 years. I forget it’s even there until it gets pulled on something. It didn’t hurt at all so whatever it’s just kind of there lol
