Todd SchoonoverFreebird!
My mom alerted me to a bird trapped in one of the bird feeders. The feeder was a plastic tube with eight holes with roost pegs below them. Surrounding the tube was a cage so that larger birds could not steal the feed from the smaller birds. A bird had stuck its head into one of the holes and become stuck as it tried to get some of the last of the seed that were on the bottom.
I cut a section of the cage so that I was able to reach the bird. It was pretty stuck though. It’s neck was caught under a lip. I was going to cut more of the cage and Dad suggested I reach down through the tube to try to free it while he held the bird. I was able to reach it with an extended finger and pushed the bird’s head down enough that it could pass through the opening. Dad extracted the bird and we set it free. It flew off, hopefully grateful. 13 months ago
