How I did it: I applied for the pre-college program at the Academy and, though it was pricey, it was worth it. I lived on Sutter, which is right near the heart of downtown San Francisco. Our stay lasted six weeks and that was long enough for me to learn amazing things from the people of San Francisco. I marched in the Pride Parade, went hiking at Mt. Tam, took a nap at Yerba Buena, but most importantly, got to experience the feeling o… Read how I did it…

I visited…and never wanted to leave. Alas, real life kicked in and on the plane I went, but if I ever manage to save up enough…
I’m applying to some graduate schools there.
California College of Art being one of them.
Can someone share with me, how they afford to live there?
I don’t have a store of money. But I’m going to work for six months full time before I move and try to save something, but even if I save if I don’t make enough when I move there, how is it possible?
Are there affordable places to live in the city that are safe?
I have visited SF 3 times in the past 2 months and have fallen in love. I currently live in Atlanta and want to re-locate to SF within the nex year. I am very scared about not being able to meet people, as i will know no one in the city. Does anyone have any advice on this?
litnight is coming up with a plan.
this is a maybe. I absolutely love the vibe of that place. But I will see where life takes me.
Jun Belisario totally forgot he had this. ):
first thing i gotta do is visit the place, but it seems like the san francisco lifestyle would be the one for me.
pinsomniac is hopeful.
On face, this seems like a rather silly goal to have for someone that lives in the Bay Area. I was raised in the South Bay, and have remained no more than an hour away from San Francisco my entire life.
With that said, it’s just not the same. Don’t get me wrong: I love the place, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. But it’s one thing to live in a relatively quiet suburban neighborhood, and quite another to reside in the heart of the city.
I originally wanted to spend a few years in New York, but to be frank, my heart is here in the west. Hopefully I’ll be able to save up enough to make this goal a reality.
brickhorse has all the swirling plates in the air!
I lived 2 doors up from the corner of Haight and Ashbury. I also lived in the Castro district for a short time. I love the City, but I don’t want to live there again. It’s a great place to visit, though!
Atlanta is such a boring city compared to San Fran.
I am saving up through my college years to move out there to San Fran, or at least 10 mins away from San Fran.
I’ve got about 5 thousand saved up from just 2 years. But working part time and 10 an hour won’t get me anywhere.
Gotta get a full time job, maybe two. SO EXPENSIVE out there!!!
