Should be a piece o’ cake.

I’ll be raising money for Darfur relief, taking pledges for our walk around the lake.
I’ve already ordered books for the school kids from their wish list on amazon. Plus I ordered some office supplies for the kids as well.

The community seder at Temple has sold out! That means: the pressure’s on!
I am doing my part. I talked a grocery store into cutting up and giving me 20 pieces of lamb shank bone (for all the seder plates we’ll have for 19 tables). I’m still boiling the pieces to get all the meat off. I think I might have a bit of a problem when it’s all done: there won’t be enough pieces – some of them have kind of either collapsed, or there wasn’t much bone in the first place.
But I think we can cut some of the pieces up.

Not sure what we’ll be doing, probably putting together seder plates for each table and providing desserts. We’ll be meeting this week to discuss the plan.

Today we made the macaroni and cheese (homemade), and tomorrow we will take that and 10 cans of cranberry jelly to First Place for Youth and serve them a holiday dinner.
First Place for Youth gives support to those kids who have aged out of the system, 18 years+.
This is temple-related, as our synagogue is doing this for them.

Singing to God is our next program, which will be on December 14, 2008, and features the cantor.
The challenges of moving to temporary quarters for the synagogue were borne out by the numbers of people we drew last week. Still, the cantor should be a popular draw.
I will start publicizing this tomorrow. I’ll be sending email to local publications, filling in their automated forms, posting on Craig’s List, etc.

I’m getting to meet more people at temple because of this.
I’m hoping we have a good turnout, but with all the challenges (especially the temple’s remodel), it;s going to be difficult.
We’re just going to have to deal with lowered expectations.

We just produced a flyer for our very first program (well, not their first, but the first I had a hand in producing), which is Nov 9th on “Growing up in an Interfaith Home.”
And I’ll be going to the Out-and-About potluck Friday (tomorrow) night. I kind of dread those…I mean, I have to talk to people. And bring a dish.

and am the point person for one of our events, the one in December. It’s called “Singing to God,” with the cantor explaining why we use certain songs in services. Most of my job will involve advertising the event. Plus bringing some food.

I bought groceries today to make 120 lunches tomorrow (in a program sponsored by Temple Sinai), and deliver them, including 240 slices of bread, 120 slices of cheese, 120 slices of turkey breast, 120 bags of chips, 120 bags of fruit treat, 120 plums, 120 bags of chips, napkins and paper bags.
And then I’m doing the same thing next week.
