12 Angry Men 8 months ago

Last night I saw 12 Angry Men with Richard Thomas. It was great! It was the Roundabout Theatre Company’s National Touring Company. It was great to see Broadway quality work that wasn’t an Andrew Lloyd Weber musical!

Attended a symphony performance last weekend... 1 year ago

which I think qualifies since it is still art performed live.

College theater was great 1 year ago

I sent to San Francisco State which has a great theater arts department. I used to be able to see one or two plays every week for free. It was absolutely wonderful because they did a lot of interesting plays.

One of my favorites was a production of Pinter’s “The Lover” where the pregnant pauses were filled in with a drum that could change tone. It highlighted the tension between the characters and really worked in my opinion.

I also really enjoyed the plays that were head trips. They did “Offending The Audience” which was an interesting look at the theater experience and the roles of the audience and actors.

I’d like to do this again, but the theater is so expensive I don’t think it’s worth it. If I had more disposable income it would definitely be worth it, but without that theater will remain a special treat.

I've always enjoyed live theatre... 1 year ago

but haven’t attended as many performances as I would like. For this goal, I’m going to define “more” as once every 1-2 months. I’m off to a good start this year. I saw “I Hate Hamlet” in January and “Much Ado About Nothing” last weekend. I’m currently looking for something interesting to see in April or May.

Going to see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels on Broadway this weekend!

Just did this... 3 years ago

I just came back from the Broadway teaching lab, which is a summer program offered for theater educators through Broadway.com. We saw 4 shows and attended 7 seminars over a 3-day period in NYC, and it was an absolute blast! Entire thing only cost $549, including seats to all 4 shows (Spamalot, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, All Shook Up, and Slava’s Snowshow).

See anything you can in your community—and get involved! Even if you don’t act, perhaps you have a talent for scenery construction, painting, marketing, producing, soliciting, grant-writing, organizing, stage managing, or something.

If you go to NYC to see live theater, check sites like Playbill.com for special ticket deals and theater rush list policies. Sometimes you can get cheap tickets to hit shows!

Good luck!
