I can’t believe more people haven’t listed this. It won’t be [too] long until this can be done quickly and cheaply.

“In December 2007 several companies, including 23andMe and DeCode, announced the availability of $999 tests for select single nucleotide polymorphisms.” These tests look pretty good but they only read select parts of your genome. I want the full 3 billion base pairs (your “genome” is the full set)!

http://www.knome.com/ may be the first company to offer commercial sequencing – but the price at the moment is $350,000. But given that the Human Genome Project cost about $3 billion, and that the Archon X Prize (final deadline: 2013) is designed to lower these costs further, I think I could achieve this goal within the next ten years.
