How to try freecycle.org

 "There is nothing easier - you have something that you no longer need, you post it on freecycle, and it's taken by someone who DOES need it within the week."
How I did it: You can search Yahoo Groups for a freecycle in your area. In the spirit of freecycle, your first post to the message board must be an offer, but after that, you can post "wanted" ads as well. I've given away many things that I no longer needed through freecycle and obtained many other things that I did! It's a great way to obtain new things in an economical fashion and get connected with the community around you. Lessons & tips: If you have trouble with people not coming to pick things up when they say they will, avoid those who do not use punctuation or who have not explicitly stated why they need your item. Many people think something looks cool, ask for it, but never come to pick it up. Resources: freecycle.org, thecompact.org
