    15. The Sandman Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes by Neil Gaiman 15 months ago

I enjoyed it although wasn’t blown away like I thought I’d be. Having said that the series is supposed to only get better. I love the concept and I do look forward to delving more into The Sandman’s realm further.

I’m starting the Prisoner of Tehran. Fascinated by books – especially non-fiction – that are set in the Middle East.

New #14 - Howl on Trial 15 months ago

    Almost finished with this one.

This is a book about Allen Ginsburg’s 1950’s poem and the censorship – and actual TRIAL – regarding the sale of it in the U.S.

It was initially printed in the UK and then intercepted at the U.S. port of entry in San Francisco due to its ‘lewd content’. Fascinating so far. Book censorship is BAD.

    14. Comic Book Tattoo 16 months ago

    http://www.amazon.com/Comic-Book-Tattoo-Tales-Inspired/dp/1582409641

Over 50 comics which have been inspired by the songs of Tori Amos. It was visual ecstasy and such a magnificent book which I thoroughly enjoyed devouring whilst listening to the appropriate Tori tracks. Each comic was introduced with the text to the related song. Although I am a Tori fan I had never really gotten into the lyrics much – mostly because I couldn’t understand them and even though I still find them often to be nonsensical, her words still create a myriad of images – sometimes surreal, sometimes blissful, always intriguing. The comics were usually very loosely based on the text but it was fascinating to see the different artists’ interpretations. My next task will be to look up all the artists which I admired the most – all their websites are listed at the end of the book.

Abandoning #14 / Chomsky book 16 months ago

It’s pretty dated. Although I’m sure I’ve have been quite taken by it just after it was released…2003?

Haven’t decided on a new #14 but it DOES need to be something a bit lighter and more entertaining.
