New IsabellaAfter the ecstasy, the laundry...
ecstasy derived from Greek ex- + histanai to cause to stand outside oneself…
.
I’ve had the title of this book on my mind lately. My recent trip was ecstatic, in that it took me outside my normal self, exposing me to different places, different people, and different routines. And now that I’m back home a whole week, it’s time to unpack my bags, do the laundry, and get back to the same-old, same-old routine.
.
Before I got started tonight, I was not looking forward to unpacking my bags. I had decided ahead of time that it would be a boring and distasteful chore. But as I actually got started, I realized that this humble activity was helping me recall different places I’d been and people that I’d visited. It was actually enjoyable in its own way.
.
And now my clothes are in the laundry. I’ll mark this goal as done when the clothes are clean and dry and put away, along with my empty suitcase. 3 years ago
