this may actually get done. It was one of the first goals I added to my list when I joined 43, it has been given up and resurrected so many times that I have lost count. Sammie gave me a call the other night to invite me to join them at the coast for the night in a couple of weeks….. so maybe, just maybe…............
The day after the wedding were alll so tired after the previous nights festivities and ready for bed but it was too early! So I suggested a walk to the beach about 20 mins away from our campsite.
It worked out better than I had envisigaed. We walked and chatted we on the grass on the cliffs overlooking a beach. The sunset was spectacular. Great conversations with great friends, local wine – a really special evening!
Can’t wait to eventually have a dawn picnic – it will be legendary :-)
THE PICTURE ISN’T MY PICTURE BUT IS FROM THE SAME VIEW POINT!
jane it's not so bad.
BUT, I could accomplish my sunrise beach picnic goal for my bday if I could find SOME kind of warm place with a beach that I could afford to get to.
Need to research….

Last weekend I had a fantastic picnic on a beach at the Northern end of Fraser Island. It was wonderful. I was taken in a friends (small) boat…without the slightest indication of sea sickness. It was a glorious day and we hopped out on the bank of a creek overlooking the bay. The sand was pure white, and the ocean so many shades of blue that I can’t describe it. A dingo came to visit (which put me a little on edge given that my fear of dogs is comparable to my fear of dentists) and watched the entire 4 hours or so we were there. It wasn’t sunrise at all but it was a great picnic, I can’t believe that I lived up there for 3 years and never had such an experience and it is only since I left 18 months ago that I have had the opportunity. There were only two things wrong, that I didn’t take my camera and I left my book behind, it would’ve been great to read while they were fishing.

... and it sounds like such a nice experience! Perhaps when the weather warms up a little.

I have wanted to do this for such a long time…....I am too gutless to do things on my own so I have decided that this will be one that I do…..my “picnic” might end up being a coffee and croissant and hopefully by Easter I will be able to tick it off.
