go to Paris with my sister

Well with some of the set backs we have had this year and not wanting my sister to be stressed financially or any other stress for that matter we have decided to wait until the following year, 2011. We are looking at this delay as a positive. This gives us more time to save, me more time to pay off some debt before I pay for the tickets and apt., and more time to learn french, study the city, etc. So we are still excited, we are still going, we just have a bit more time now. :-)

I found an updated book about Paris (I have one that is from 2004 and the one at the libary is from 2008!) on the site for the library yesterday it was on the shelf. I went there today over lunch and someone had checked it out. Not that I’m in a hurry, I have a year right?! And besides it was nice getting out in the 60 degree weather and I always enjoy a trip to the library!

I have started to pencil in an agenda for us (insert nerd joke here I know)....just to make sure we are there long enough to do the things we want. We have decided on a different place to stay. I’m glad that we are at least set on that for now and can focus on the fun stuff now. :-) Still need to get our passports. The lady at the post office said they are only taking about 3 weeks to arrive once all the paperwork is mailed off. I figure we can do that by this summer and be safe.

I’m getting more and more excited, but still a bit nervous at the same time.

I had been given two books about Paris three years ago. These books have been full of great information! My sister and I went to a used book store Saturday and bought one more. I tend to get information overload when planning at times. But I think we have some great info now and I can feel confident about this trip. I am not sure I could learn ‘too much’.

We really had a good time Saturday talking about details, etc. I’m so glad we are finally putting plans in motion. We were joking that planning over a year ahead is a little crazy, but I am sure the time will fly by! I realize there is a small chance we won’t have all the money saved, but I am not every mentioning that again. We are going, we WILL have the money, we will enjoy the trip next year. :-)

Well we have our passport apps ready to turn in. We have it narrowed down to three places we would like to stay, I figure we will finalize that decision soon. We talk about it almost every day! We are getting more and more excited. I even found a store dedicated to umbrellas…That is my goal to find a cool umbrella in Paris. I’m a dork, but very excited about finding a really unique umbrella and then getting to talk about my trip everyone I am using it and someone comments on it. I’m hoping to find a beautiful unique one that will encourage strangers to comment on it. :-)

Now I just wish I could pay off the debt sooner, but I’m getting there.

I got out all the information we have gathered about Paris and went through it all. I would LOVE to be able to do this with her in the next 2 years. I know we have been planning this for about 10 years, saying we would get around to it, etc. I’m ready to do this with her and show her she can count on my word.

I told her we would do this when she was much younger. I asked her if she could go anywhere in the world where would she go and she said Paris…it’s time to make that dream come true. I’m paying off a credit card now and if we have not saved up the exact amount we need, I’m going to use the card (why not use if for something reallllly fun huh?!)

Me and my sister went all around Europe together. It made us friends again.

We are trying to plan this for next year….we have the apartment in mind that we want to rent, and the things we want to see, the budget made up, etc. All the research is done, we just have to finish saving up the funds! This will happen!!!
