I’m addicted to the beach and the salon. I know it’s bad for me and I’m really going to make an effort to stop. But I probably won’t make any attempt until I leave Rio. I mean, I have to return to Ohio with a tan!
How to stop tanning
How I did it: I accepted that I can't always be tan, so I quit my tanning salon membership, bought a good sunscreen & purchased Sun Laboratories Self Tanner ($40 and worth every penny).... after the initial "pale" shock, I now feel fabulous and my skin has cleared up and looks younger.

Caroline Work! Work! Work!
I stopped going to the tanning salon about 2 months ago… and I was very confident about it at that time. But now i’m starting to look really pale again… and I don’t like it! But I’m determined! I’m never going to the salon again! It’s just a matter of getting my confidence back I guess.
I love the way that it feels to tan either in a salon or at the beach, but it isn’t worth it. I quit for a number of years and went back. I use sunscreen every day, but still!!
Stop tanning! At least for awhile. Its better for your skin and show the world your natuarl color for once. I used to tan. Then I decided to stop and went to my natural hair color too and I love it!
I’ve been tan free for a few years now, and it’s really great. It’s less money to spend, one less thing to be worried about—it seems like once I gave up tanning, it felt like I was less self conscious.
Skin Cancer, wrinkles, sun spots, leathery skin…yucky! I’ve decided pale skin is in. Check out Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman, Portia de Rossi…do they have tans? No. Do they look awesome and they are 30, 40 +? Yes! I’ve been fake baking on and off since I was about 15. My parents even own a tanning bed! It’s melanoma waiting to happen, but I don’t want it to happen to me. I am wearing suncreen every day now and definately steering clear of the tanning bed. I’ve been tan free for 17 days now! Woohoo! Eternal youthfulness here I come!
