I am playing around with Linux since long (RedHat mostly) and now I am looking forward to become a linux Expert or in general we can Linux Guru.. What would you guys suggest ?? any pointers or suggestions :)
Cheers,
Moizzy
I’ve been using Linux for about a year now so I thought I’d write a quick blurb about my experience so far.
I decided to start with Novel’s openSUSE to run my own web server. The server setup was easy thanks to Yast. A few months later, I switched my desktop PC from a beta copy of Windows Vista to Fedora Core 6. This is now my main computer at home. A couple of months after that, I installed Ubuntu on my laptop.
Maintaining 3 different Linux systems in the course of one year has given me a pretty good understanding of a typical Linux system. I have a great deal of appreciation for all the people who contribute to these projects.
Will I continue to use Linux? yes, absolutely! and I plan give back to the community as I learn more.
it’s been a while since my last entry on my becoming a linux guru…
but i believe i am a bit closer..
I have been using openSuse for a while now…
i am by no means a guru, but i could say i am a knowledgeable user..
i need to start studying command line interface, learn about drivers etc..
i received a few copies of ubuntu, kubutu and edubuntu in teh post to play with :-)
if you live near, i’l be happy to pass on a copy :-)
i got suse 7.1 i think, hijacked my moms computer and installed it there,
i did not put windows on thus forcing myself to only use linux so i can learn faster
unfortunatley the xserver was not installed corectly (display dirver in windows terms i think) and now i cant use kde or any other GUI
will have to reinstall linux again and see if i can sort it out
at the moment i dont even have my own pc
and my linux skills are almost none existint
step 1: get a computer
step 2: put linux on it
step 3: learn to work magic with it
step 4: modify it for my own use
step 5: buy a porche 911 turbo
It is absolutly nessesary for me to know everything to know about linux since i want to develope my own linux for purpose specific software that i want to develope in java
i really like using linux, first of all it is much more customizable than other operating systems and also to support the open source community.. i do have windows installed in my computer but rarely use it.. i believe it is in the best interest of everyone that software be of quality and for free..
I want to become a linux guru, because, although i feel comfortable with it as a Desktop, i’d like to get to know its full potential..
:D
I’m not sure this is something I want to do any more. I love hacking around with Linux, but I don’t think I can devote enough time to becoming a ‘guru’. I’ll just have to accept mediocrity
