move to northern california

S is out in Santa Rosa, staying with an old friend and looking for work. I’m helping him out in the job search online and sending him likely prospects.

It’s good, because I think I think more broadly in what is possible for him. He tends to think he is a laborer/blue collar worker, which makes him overqualified for most positions.

I found a job for a managing couple, that when I researched a little, turned out to be a very good fit for me and for him.

Now I did not expect to be jumping into a job as soon as I got out there. Was hoping for a little time to acclimate myself and learn my way around. Was planning for the whole summer to close up shop here.

But here I am doing my resume for this job. If we get it… it seems almost like a dream kind of situation. Like a fantasy. I don’t know if they want a couple with children. And of course, I don’t know if we’ll get it. But who knows? And I don’t know if me not being out there yet is a problem. And I don’t know how we’d get the money to move everything out there before we start working. Sigh. So many questions and worries.

But whatever. All we can do is focus, put our efforts and energies out into the universe, and see what happens

to move the family to California.

This Florida thing is just not working out. We had only planned to be here for a year or two, anyway.

S is heading out there to set things up soon, and hopefully, by the fall, we will be going out and I can start all over on a lot of these goals that have been put on the back burner for others.

I can settle down and start building community and get out more. Start a writing group for good. You wouldn’t believe how long that’s been on my to do list. Totally ignored.

Of course a lot of these things will have to be postponed until after the move is settled.

My sister and her family and my kid brother live there and I’m thinking about relocating from Cleveland. I have visited a number of times and, each time, it has been difficult coming back for a number of reasons. Also, I don’t have any family or real friends in the Midwest. I have made this goal known to my current employer – which means 1 of 2 things – they allow me to relocate and work from there (not impossible, given how my current job involves a lot of travel anyway) or they tell me that I’m on my own and I have to find a different employer. Neither one of this is putting me off just yet. I am single and need some close family/friends around me. It’s been too long without…..

The bicycling there is so much better. I love wine. I only need to find a job there I guess. Only probelm is that I’m not looking yet. I’m thinking of looking for a place in the Healdsburg/Windsor area.
