No opportunity yet. When I travel I bring lotsa things in my suitcase.Too heavy for me. Also, it would be better to go with a friend or two. I dont have friends here who share the same interest.
But I really would like to do this.
How I did it: In 2007 I spend 4 months backpacking solo through Scotland, Ireland, France, Poland and Egypt... I wouldn't change a thing... It was honestly one of the best things I've ever done. Here is a link to my travel blog if you're interested.. :) http://sarahlicious.travellerspoint.com/ Read how I did it…

How I did it: I went backpacking in Costa Rica and it was definitley difficult with all of the mountains. At some points I thought I was going to die, but to say "Wow, I just climbed a mountain!" is one of the most amazing things ever! I felt so accomplished! Read how I did it…

I’ve been fortunate to go on some pretty amazing backpacking trips, including a spectacular hike along the Napali Coast on Kauai. I’m looking forward to hiking and camping and just being outdoors this summer. Right now, my ideal trip would be a guided wilderness program such as this: http://www.odysseynw.com, but for adults. I’d love to do a group trip that emphasizes adventure and education along with introspection. Sounds like the perfect vacation…

I have always wanted to pack my things and go somewhere unplanned. just leave, on foot, with a pack, for 2 weeks. Not know where i was going, but be very curious to see where i ended up each day,how far from home i would be and what i wouls see on my way. I am a mother of 2 young kids (of course THEY wouldn’t be comming!) & I still really want to do this even if it’s just once, to know what it’s like!
I love the outdoors! I want to strap on a pack and spend the night outside! I grew up camping, but I’ve never really been backpacking.
I think i need to live a little! I want to take two months off in the summer and go backpacking in europe by myself
yourkandy is stay@home..
I’m always tell myself that i love to travel.. but in fact i didn’t travel that much coz i’m too lazy and about money and job also anyway i still dreamed about travel in somewhere far away from my home, and backpacking is one of a good idea ..we can both travel & get freedom in the same time
actually i wanna try to backpack in European but it’s quite hard for me or if i’ve a few friends to go with..:) and maybe backpack in my country is a good thing tho..
Live_Life_Now and the hits just keep on coming
.....is the plan to go backpacking. Have have not gone since I was a kid with my Dad. Now my son wants to go. I just have to get the gear together. I think we will go over night “to get our feet wet.” Hopefully make it out at least 3-4 times over the summer.

A while ago when I stayed with my friend in Honduras, he took me out to the islands for a bit of tourism. While on the boat over, we met a couple backpackers who were traveling around central and South America. Since I met them I’ve really wanted to go backpacking in different places like that!
The method of exploration seems a lot more fun than just going on a “family vacation” type of thing; the whole idea was engaging to me; for instance, being closer to the culture and also being more physical about traveling (the actual backpacking part). It was fun talking to them and they shared their lychees with us, too. XD
I figure this is something I should probably do in my mid-twenties, when I’ve had a career for awhile (thus some money saved up) but am still young. I’m 21 now and still in university for the time being, but I think my biggest problem will not be finances or something like that, I think it will be this:
Meeting other people, locally, who would also want to go. I’m really bad at meeting people and there are so many things I want to do, but I literally just don’t know where to start… and this is one of those things. I’d be too afraid to go all by myself (or too sensible, maybe lol), but I honestly wouldn’t know how to find these people. Hmm.
The photo is from my trip to Utila.
We’re going on the Ingalls Creek Trail, near the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, for this Labor Day weekend – 12 miles each way. I have a sleeping bag, new rain jacket, water filter, etc etc. I’m using hand-me-downs for the pack and sleeping pad, but everything else I’ve bought myself over the past 16 months or so. I’m slightly nervous but mostly excited! I’ve been stair-climbing at work all week. My thighs ache, but hopefully they won’t hurt as much this weekend then.
