Truly celebrate all the holidays and special days in 2008.

The kids and I will go to the tiny local cemetery and clear the winter fallen branches of the dozen or so graves. We’ll put flags at the graves of the soldiers who served in the Grand Army of the Republic in the 1770s & 1780s, and we’ll spend an afternoon with them.

Know how if your house faces perfectly south, the sunrise on the equinoces will shoot right in the East window and right out the west window?

Know how when you take a compass measurement, you have to correct for magnetic vs polar north based on where you are?

Know how if your DSpouse is from all the way across the continent, you both agree it’s a 15 degree correction, but he thinks its eastward and you know it’s westward?

Well, and you may not know this, but here in NH, in your house faces 30 degrees west of south, then the sunrise lines up the east and west windows on May 22nd.

Did you know that May 22nd has deep spiritual significance ‘round here? It’s the day the county extension service says you can plant out your tomatoes. I want an “Amen” for a truly holy day!

He wants to
1. lie in
2. have breakfast
3. have second breakfast
4. read
5. play
6. go out for dinner to the fam’s favorite restaurant
7. get books for presents to he can read more.

The warm spring weather here has been suffering from intermittent dumps of snow. Yesterday it was balmy and today I woke up to 6 inches of snow, which are now beginning to melt.

I went outside to take a picture of this atrocity interrupting a perfectly good streak of spring weather, and my doggy insisted on starting a snowball fight. ;) He loves to catch anything, including snowballs, so we had a good play together. Afterwards I felt grateful for the snow and the fun we had together…another ordinary day worth celebrating!

To truly celebrate the day means making ANZAC biscuits, going to the parade and playing two up!

April 2 is children’s Book Day!!
