Deep water of course!!! 7 months ago

I just think this would be something that would be crazy and free, give you the feeling that you are flying, and then into the water. I hope it is clear and turquoise!!!!

I jumped off of a 20 foot cliff into a gravel quarry in Kentucky Lake. The climb up was the scary part, and once I was at the top I didn’t even stop to take a look around. I took three steps and leapt. I WORE A LIFEJACKET, you should too!! I’m still proud of this tho don’t know if I’ll do it again.

Did this in New Zealand 2004 4 years ago

Great experience jumping to ice cold river :)

a few times actually 4 years ago

and it’s about time to do it again.
The first time was in Israel at a natural spring swimming park when I was 19. It was a TALL cliff, something like 40 feet. There’s no motivation like the first guy you’ve met that you know you could fall in love with asking you to jump with him. At the top, a bunch of Israeli men were standing around basically doing the You-go-No-you-go exchange. Joseph jumped and I could see my friends below bobbing in the water. It was muddy and I got really worried about slipping backwards and cracking my skull open. I did slip a little as I approached the edge. A man steadied my arm and said “Be careful, be careful” in a kind way. So I didn’t push off very hard as much as fall forward. That’s why my knees hit an underwater rock ledge near the wall. Ouch, my knees felt stiff as I swam to the other side. When I looked at them, one was scraped up pretty badly. Asa and Joseph walked me to the first aid building and got me patched up. That was the first time I saw a liquid bandage. It was kinda cool because the blood stayed bright red since it couldn’t oxidize. Joseph said I looked like a Nike ad with my blue toenail polish in my Nike trail sandals and bloody knee.
The second time was in New Hampshire. It was a shorter jump, 25 feet into cold water. I was scared, that freefall feeling of no control unnerves me. I have trouble riding roller coasters, too. My friends talked me into it and Sean held my hand and we jumped together. I grunted as I tried to fight the falling feeling. It wasn’t so fun. Being mostly naked while jumping was fun though. I recommend trying that too. Sometimes your with a group of people that finds themselves on a cliff by a river and the jump is tempting, but nobody brought swimsuits!
Sometimes I relax and let go and I actually have fun on roller coasters or jumping. It is something to practice more often.
    So where’s the nearest pond?

I have a buncha photos… fun. Scope out your landing! Make lighter person go first! Don’t over jump the landing! *If it’s over 30 feet, cross your legs and pull in your arms before you hit the water!!!!! Don’t wear sandals. Aqua shoes ok.

I was fearless as a child 4 years ago

I did this a number of times. And it made me feel brave and daring. But somehow, as I aged, my life has become more and more precious to me!

This picture was taken a few years ago in Mexico. All throughout our trip we encountered situations that made me think, “in the US they’d have a fence here, and a giant orange warning sign, and maybe a security guard to make sure noone got hurt. And when we came in they would have made us sign a form waiving our legal rights.” In Mexico, things were different. Sometimes I liked it, getting to climb on things that, in another country, might be fenced off. And sometimes it scared me. At Chichen Itza pyramid, a jostling crowd stood at the top of the steep steps, and an ambulance with its motor running stood at the bottom. There was a rope to pull yourself up the pyramid, and our guide gleefully told us it used to be a metal chain—until someone got electrified climbing up on a drizzly day!

So even though our tour bus stopped here and our guide encouraged us to jump, I couldn’t help thinking, “if I hit the water wrong, couldn’t I hurt my neck, or worse?” I stood at the top for an excruciatingly long time.
