meet an online friend

... in real life after knowing her online for over 4 years. :) It was an incredible experience, full of me being super nervous waiting for her to arrive, to being super sad when she was leaving, and lots of fun nights in between. There was pumpkin carving, cupcake baking, late nights spent talking about everything, and so much other fun stuff. I can’t wait until I get to visit her again, because she is the sister I never had. :) 11 months ago

We’d known each other for just short of 14 months beforehand. We spent a lot of time talking on the phone and much more time messaging on MSN—almost nightly. We trusted each other enough for this, and have been trying to meet since January. I had proof that he was who he said through his employer’s website.

He ordered his tickets back in late August, and flew to Florida from Canada today. It was a really sweet thing of him to do for me.

I surprisingly wasn’t nervous when I was picking him up from the airport, and greeted him with a simple hug. As I spoke to him more today, I realized it’s SO much better to speak to him in person! There were no awkward moments at all, and we get along wonderfully. We have a few things planned out for the upcoming week, and I fully expect everything to go smoothly. :) 2 years ago

I know that it’s been said that meeting up with people you have “met” online is dangerous, so I’m bringing my parents. Benjamin only lives one state away from me; it would be like a daytrip to go meet him. Honestly, I’m pretty sure he’s just the gawky 17-year-old he claims to be. And it’s not as if I’m telling him I’m someone I’m not. I just don’t tell him details yet.
