How I did it: I had to stop doing sit-ups and squats, because they took up entirely too much time (as I was already busy enough with moving, having a 2nd kid, and playing baseball).
I started on Jan 9, so I was immediately behind pace. I still ended up finishing 2 days early. Knowing that I needed to do at least 69 pushups each day, and keeping track in Excel, helped out a lot. I was able to have it show me what my to-date total was supposed to be for each day, so I knew if I could take a day off or if I had to play catch-up. I ended up doing pushups on 303 of the 356 days, which averages out to 82.5/day. That comes out to doing pushups 6 days out of 7, which isn't really recommended (that's why I had some light days and some heavy days). The most I did on any given day was 391, and obviously, I did no pushups on 53 days). My highest count in a given set was 40. I am going to rest tomorrow and then see if I can set a new personal best on the last day of the year. Read how I did it… 4 years ago

I fell off the wagon back in June and never really got going again. No Excuses, but there is no way to achieve these numbers in teh next four weeks… I was around 10<000 or so when I lost the disciplined routine of doing them.

No Excuse! I have been riding bicycle and the miles have been going excellent there and all. That goal is going well. I am pretty worn oyt from that by the end of day so I just have not been doing the situps/pushups…I am not going to close this goal ntil I have gotten the numbers.. it may be into 2009 however. 4 years ago

It only took 2 days to get back on track. Today, I grinded out 391 pushups to get me back to where I’m supposed to be at this point. From here on out, I vow never to fall behind more than 200 (about 3 days’ worth). And instead of only doing sets of 25, I was able to many sets of 30, so it’s good to see I’m getting stronger. 4 years ago

I agree, Chris, that it’s really hard to find the time, especially after work when you’re dead tired, and I just finished baseball season, which meant that I had even less time (and energy in between games) to do pushups. I thought I’d be cranking them out on my telework days (trying to do 25 every hour while working at home), but I’d get so wrapped up in work that the top of the hour would fly by without warning.
I’m currently at 15,277 push-ups, even though I should be at around 15,700. I’m slowly closing the gap. If I can do 75/day the rest of the year, I’ll make it. 4 years ago

The year is now half over, which means I should be at 12,500 pushups. I am currently at 12,005 (that’s not a typo). It is hard to find the time to stick with this, especially with moving and having a baby in the last 2 months, but barring any catastrophes, I think I’ll still be able to meet my goal. 4 years ago

Oie! I am falling behind! This is a tough goal to keep at. I am at 9000 right now. I should be at 12500 by the end of this month! OIE! well we will keep after it and have to make up ground! 4 years ago

I fell a few hundred behind, with moving and getting sick 3 weeks ago, but I should be able to catch up to where I should be within a few weeks. 4 years ago

While I am not were I was hoping to be at this point I am still on track to get it done. Just have to remain consistent or be just a little more consistent than I have been. 5 years ago

I have finally caught up to the point where I should be for this date (if splitting up the number of reps evenly across all 366 days). I’m at 7640 pushups as of today.
I had to give up on the situps and squats. I just don’t have enough time during the day to squeeze it all in (especially since I haven’t been able to telecommute in the last 2 months). Plus, I was having lower back pains from the situps. I’m trying to make up for it by using my ab wheel and do plank exercises. 5 years ago

2100 pushups and situps so far this year. This is a good start for the month of January. I am feeling the benefits very much. I have had back troubles the last several years and exercise has allways helped! Doing these exercises has especialy made a positive differance so far.
Just 22900 to go! :) 5 years ago

I finally reached 1000 pushups/situps/squats. I was sick last week, so I fell way behind. I should be at 1500. I guess a few extra reps each day are needed… 5 years ago

With yesterday included I am at 400 each. Had a little bit of build up. I am basically doing 100 day now so will try to sustain that or more from here on.

This is the equivalent of 500 pushups and situps a week for 50 weeks of the year. This is a realistic, accomplisheable goal. Just requires consistancy.
Well I am in for this goal. Here we go! 5 years ago
