Thanks mostly to the efforts of my wife, the family silhouettes have been drawn and cut out. My gifted-artist wife did a great job at tracing the shadows. Our 3-year-old gave her a run for her money, but she got the job done. I simply did a mediocre job of holding the light. She also did an excellent job of cutting out the silhouettes so they didn’t look like a bunch of lopsided, freaky aliens—that’s how they turn out when I do them. Not only do they look wonderful, but I can’t wait to get them up on our wall. Once they are up over the dining room table, I’ll mark this as complete.
How to make family silhouettes
How I did it: Since this was an artistic effort, my wife did most of the work on this project. I wish I had been more involved, but my participation mostly involved holding the flashlight and trimming some of the silhouettes. You'd think that tracing and cutting would be simple (and they are), but to get it looking just right takes a bit of skill.
Many thanks to my wife for making this a much more aesthetic project than I would have done on my own.
