spend more time with my brother

We both lead busy lives and I don’t get to see him as often as I like. Family is so important, and yet it seems I see them less and less as time goes on.

My brother has a condition – a severely compromising neurological condition -, so spending time with him doesn’t mean what “spending time with my brother” means to most people. I have just had an about 40-minute long conversation with him, in which he asked me about what I do, whether or not I have a boyfriend, how’s one of my friends doing (one who he paricularly likes), what I had for dinner, and what was I studying upstairs (when I told him I had to go back to studying). It’s very hard to understand what he says, and when I do it still doesn’t always make perfect sense. But I really liked that he wanted to talk to me and that he wanted to know about my life. I liked spending time with him today, and it’s really unusual for us to talk for so long. I’m usually impatient about how difficult it is, and I end up not talking to him much. But today I was patient, I made an effort, and he seemed to really like talking to me and to really be interested in me. I feel good, I’m glad I made him feel good, and I want to have that more often.

Is a pothead. Ugh. He just got cited for it, I dont know how (the details) but he has to go to court. He is pretty lazy. I dont know how to get thru to him. We really dont have anything we can do or talk about together. :(

If he doesn’t want to spend time with me, I am not going to achieve this goal. oh well.

Wow it seems like a lot of you are in the same position as me (younger brother) He is 18, I am 23. I just realized it but our family doesnt say I love you often and I dont think my brother or I had ever said it to each other. I heard from my mom that she saw him crying so I texted him to see if he was ok/what happened. It was over a girl ofcourse so I told him dont be upset over that skank and that he deserves better. He then texted me back saying “thank you. This may be kind of different for our fam…haha I LOVE YOU.” First time I think hes ever told me that. It made me cry. He is such a smart great kid and I wish we didnt live so far apart now (1.5 hrs) but I really wanna spend more time w/ him.

I’ve been doing a bit better with this goal as time has passed. I guess that I will just have to continue to work on this one. My brother is awesome!

Kid Bro decided he wanted to see The Village People yesterday. I know, what the hell? But it was free, and we were both sort of bored. Makes you realize that 90% of people only know three VP songs. Still, it was nice to hang out with him a little, even if he did ditch me on my Slurpee finding expedition afterward to hang out with his friends.

my bro and i have been talking and hanging out a little more, so i’ll consider this done. he is growing up, which makes me sad, but he is becoming a cool individual. soon i want to take him out to lunch.

I’m moving back home for at least the summer next week. Last time I was home over spring break, my brother had just gotten his driver’s license, which is still really weird for me to think about. I don’t know how much time we’ll actually spend together since he’s busy with his friends and whatnot and I have to work. We’re going on family vacation for a week in August, so usually our parents ditch us for a few hours so we get to chill. (The picture is from our last vacation in Seattle where my parents went to a banquet and my brother and I went to get balloon animals.)

I’ve been meaning to spend more time with him before he goes of to college. We went to hear a concert and I took him to eat pizza—kind of dumb but fun!
