Bf and I put in some work, this weekend. Yesterday we did more coats of the glossy paint, today, we painted all of the walls. It all comes together so well. The ceiling is white, the beams are very bright cream and the walls “Kenia” cream, now. It all looks so good! I bet tomorrow, we’ll finish everything except the stairs. The stairs will nees a good 5 hours of work…

Almost there!
Well, sort of.
This is the bedroom (you can tell by the bed in the middle), all ceiling beams painted with second/third coats, and the panelling painted with a first layer. Bf has painted the ceiling, although the edges need to be done, as we ran out of clean brushes. I’ll need to go and buy one tomorrow.

Most of the wood in the bedroom is now painted properly. Last night, we spent another hour down there and gave the ceiling beams a third coat of paint plus some touch ups.
It looks great now!!!
Onwards. So much more to do.

...kinda done. But it’s not good enough, so we’ll just do a THIRD one, yeah. Settling for another night on the living room sofas so we don’t die in our sleep in the fumes. God, they’re horrendous!
But it’s soooo worth it. I recon we’ll finish coat three tomorrow evening. Then we can move all the furniture from the front of the room and paint the pannelled wall, the front beam and details plus of course the wretched stairs. And then the walls. And then the ceiling. We’re so far from finishing this… Perseverance.

Yesterday, we spent the whole day in the bedroom, giving all the wooden surfaces their first coat (Except for the stairs, which are a job apart!). I splatted paint all over a carpet tile, and whilst removing spreading the paint, the fumes from the terpentine I used became too much for bf who had a headache for the rest of the day…
I soldiered on, though. So the first coat is done, let’s see how far we’ll get tonight.

We spent Friday evening in IKEA, including a “romantic” dinner overviewing the play area in the family restaurant while feasting on a dish of Swedish meatballs with all trimmings (chips, red & brown sauce).
We abandoned “Anabode” and went for “Kullen” instead, which looks just as cheap, but will do the trick.
A good bit of saturday was spent assembling Kullen (I nailed in the 82 tacks while bf was watching the footie.)
We cleaned a lot, put loads of clean laundry into the wardrobe which was all over the shop before and rearranged the whole room: the bed is facing the stairs again as it did when we first moved in, the wardrobe is down the stairs on the right side. The room feels huge now!
While moving around clothes of all ages, I also said good-bye to a few things, two big bin liners full! These will go to charity, recycling my grey needle striped two-piece-suit (my interview suit, worn about 4 times or so…)and satin (brand new) pyjamas which will, in honesty, never, ever fit me.
When going for job interviews in the future I’d also rather wear something new I feel comfortable in.
On top of all the business we also decided on two things which I will try to sell for a fiver or so: the barbeque we used only once (the day when Live8 was on, with Realtarzan and iSoph) and the small laundry hanger for over a door.
To finish it all off, bf and I cycled into town and spent 100 quid on new bed linnens and two lovely new pillows.
Oh yeah!

G1 wardrobe
We picked an IKEA wardrobe (Anaboda) which is cheap and kinda nasty but will help with keeping the bedroom tidy.
All I want now it to get this place neat and clean so we can start letting people in to view. Still a long way to go, though…
