NYC taxes suck
We sent in the check to NY on the 15th and our fed refund came in already so that will help pay for most of this :( I don’t mind paying taxes as much as not being able to choose where they go. Do I want my hard earned money to help guys like our former governor book rooms for nights out with his hooker? That would be a no. (not to mention the $4000 bill came as a complete surprise as we’ve never paid out before). Here’s to hoping we’ll recover sooner than later. (Did I mention the cell bill was $400 last month?) Please financial gods I need a bit of a break.

Turns out we owe the state of NY $4000. At this point I feel like that guy in “Dan in Real life” when he says, “Put it on my tab.”

I feel like I’m at a standstill with this. Not because I am unsure of my next move, but because I am lazy. I NEED to round up all the paperwork! I’m hoping to get this going and to find someone to process them for me on Monday 03/03/08.

sabrina has filed her first fafsa ever, go her!
All transmitted, now I just have to wait to see that the e-filed returns get accepted. Yay.

Bought my shiny new copy of TurboTax 2007 today, and got started entering data. Nothing official yet on income, since I haven’t received any official forms yet (and won’t until early Feb, I expect), but I have a good idea on most of those things, and I kept all my records for my itemized deductions, so that stuff, I just entered outright.
I’ve been fretting about my 2007 taxes for months, because I had some salary increases last year and I wasn’t sure if my withholdings would be enough, and I really didn’t want to have to write a fat check… but if I was going to have to, I wanted to know ASAP! So I bought TurboTax as soon as my mortgage people said my statement was ready.
According to my estimates, I am just about scraping by perfectly even. They say I have about a $100 refund due, which we’ll see how that goes when I get the real amounts entered off my W2s and so on, but at least they aren’t saying I owe $5000!
