swim in the ocean without fear

I was in Australia on a catamaran. We were in crocodile and shark country and had sailed around a bunch of shark baits.

I’ve been scared of the ocean ever since I saw jaws when I was a little girl. I even got scared in swimming pools when I thought about sharks.

But the wind was wild and we had to pull the boat in and I jumped off into the water because I had. I was so scared and even that night I couldn’t get over how fearless it had felt. So I started swimming in river pools, lakes and oceans. I don’t like getting near the weeds but I don’t think about getting eaten or attacked… often

I can swim in a lake w/ no problems, but the ocean is just so much more difficult. I got swallowed up by a crashing wave in Daytona back in ‘05 and I’ve been afraid to get deeper than waist depth in the ocean since.

The last time I went in the ocean I was about to cry from fear of drowning in the nasty salt water, plus, I can’t swim. This is going to be a hard thing to do without first conquering my fear of swimming in the deep end of swimming pools.
