In the interest of setting a quantifiable goal..I’m going to shoot for 5 to start with. :)

Another very close relative... 2 years ago

...has been deployed, so we are going to be sending care packages every week, hopefully.

I really think this is so important to their well being – knowing that we love and care for them, and having something familiar and comforting from home.

We may not always agree with what is going on, but supporting them is the most precious thing we can do for them…...

Yesterday when I got home from work... 3 years ago

There was a stack of mail for me. I flipped through it and saw a bright yellow envelope from Alison and choose to open it before everything else! She sent me a card, thanking me for the care package I sent her. I was glad she received it, glad I followed my first thought and reached out to her when I read SusonCt97’s entry.

It contained a card with a thank you letter written inside. She thanked me for reaching out (even though I don’t know her). She said the things I included really touched her- at a time when she needed a boost. It is not easy being in a war torn country, so far from home. I’m grateful to have made a difference! Now I’m ready to go shop and send her another package~

Done! 3 years ago

I sent Alison her care package… I didn’t know that packages going over seas required a Customs Declaration and Dispatch note… because this is the first time I’ve done it~

I went shopping today 3 years ago

and picked up some items to put in the mail. A few weeks ago I was reading Susonct97’s goals and came across this wish I said I wanted to send Alison a care package to show my appreciation for her patriotism and serving in the military. I don’t agree with the occupation, I do humbly appreciate her service and sacrifice from having her feet planted at home.

So I’ll be mailing out the package in the next day or two. Hoping it’ll make her day a little brighter~

My sister and I decided to ressurrect letters by snail mail, something we did continuously when I was in college. Then the letter writing went a step further to see who could send the weirdest stuff in a letter. I sent cookie crumbs, leftover confetti from my daughter’s college graduation, and some lint from the pocket of my jeans. She sent me a shell and some sand from Florida. Then I sent her a “care package” at work. She is a dispatcher somewhere in FL. I had her convinced it was contraband and other embarassing things but really it was just candy and magazines and other fun stuff to share with her co-workers. They all loved it.

I did it ISH. I sent out three things in the post in about five years. And they were all to 43ers! Thank you! My phobia is nearly gone!

I’m going to continue doing this. It’s actually fun.

I have made baby steps 3 years ago

but I stopped really noticing this goal. So I need to have a better one.

I’ve overcome the post office part. Now I just need the confidence part. And then there is the having the address at hand part. If only I had ONE address book.

if only it really were the thought that counts... 3 years ago
