read "Night Watch" by Sarah Waters

I actually finished this a while ago now but haven’t been on 43 things since.

I was really disappointed with this novel, in my opinion it’s Sarah Waters at her weakest. It didn’t engage me very much (partly due to the odd- but interesting- plot structure) and I didn’t feel there was much ‘point’ to the novel really.

I’ve been a bit slow with this one- I’m only just making my way towards the end. It still hasn’t really gripped me, it’s just ambling along quite pleasantly..

I’ve read Tipping The Velvet and Fingersmith which were both great (although I have a soft spot for the former.) I went to the library recently intending to get Affinity but they didn’t have it so I plumped for The Night Watch instead. I’ve been a bit slow with this one so far, and I’ve just reached the “1941” part (or is it 42, I forget? Anyway, so far I haven’t really got into it yet, it’s a pleasant read but not particularly gripping. I shall await the dramatic tension…
