I started a bible study for men and it was a lot harder than I expected. First of all, getting men to show up to something like this without a wife to drag them along was nearly impossible. Second, I found myself putting off preparing the lessons until the last minute. Most weeks, I didn’t look forward to the small group, which is a shame. I definitely learned some lessons for the next time I tackle this, but I don’t think it’ll be a men’s group.

ok so the Girlz Talk bible study has officially started and had our 1st meeting. It was really good. We talked about teen pregnancy. Thats a tough issue but thats what these are going through. You see this small group is targeted at “at risk” teen middle school age girls. In others words, they’re the worse of the worse. :) And Jesus loves them :D It went really well. That first one that is. :) Keep the rest in prayer.

so i’ve been wanting to really start this bible study/ small group. Every time we plan for it, something comes up and we have to cancel. But the first meeting is officially planned for Saturday, March 1, 2008… I’m kinda excited. Some of my girls were telling me how they’ve pretty much envited everyone they know at school, and they are inviting people too! Pray for it, because these girls really need it.
I’ve started a couple Bible studies over the years… I highly recommend it if you feel like it is something you should do and God is leading you to do it. My experiences leading were wonderful – I was blessed with great groups every time and although it is always hard in the beginning to get people to open up, once they do and the group gets close and people are growing, it is a true blessing.
Tonight I had my second weekly Bible study. Things started out rough. The first night was like pulling teeth to get people to talk. Now we are more comfortable with each other and I think it will only improve with time. Hopefully, we will become a tight group. I have been slightly worried that I, personally, will take the focus off of Him and put it on myself. Is it wrong to want other people to think, “Wow, Micah has a really cool Bible study.” Decidedly, yes. It is for His glory, not mine.
I started one for me and a friend who was searching for Jesus. We didn’t feel like we connected with the one already at school because we drink, party, etc. We added a new person every week and we grew deeper in God. I had people who were not even in it ask if I was starting it up again next semester. I need this.
i used to hold a bible study in my house, but considering it was at five in the morning before we left for public school [saved myself from that, thank God for homeschooling], it was a hassel. a time of growth, but a hassel, too. so i’m planning on starting another one. we even made a special room for it in our house. yay.
