Our gate became almost impossible to open and close and really needed fixed. The block wall return had started to lean towards the gate. We cut a 4×4 and using a car jack against the wood to move the block wall back where it needs to be. Once the wall is back in place, we will check the area for a sprinkler leak and some sand or gravel to help compact the ground around the fence.

At one time we had nice fiber optic pool lighting around our pool which changed to four different colors. The lighting stopped working long ago and we were unable to get the needed parts from the manufacturer.
The tubing has turned a brownish color and disintegrated after years of sun exposure. Today I started removing the the lighting that is around the outside of the pool. The pool looks much better without it, but I still need to remove the difficult areas, clean out the groves and fill the gap in with something that will work around the pool coping. I haven’t removed the second tubing that is between the tile and coping and will probably wait until we have the needed materials.
The patio needs a little work before I finish this project.
It will probably take us longer to choose a new baseboard than to install them in the living room. We’ve been to three different home improvement stores and haven’t decided what style we want. I have a brochure with some of the styles. I do know that I don’t want any of the four styles of baseboards we currently have in our house.
I’m hoping to like the baseboard enough that we can install it in our entire house this time.
... are taking longer to finish than planned. I only have a few hours each morning to work outside while the weather is tolerable and working on three large bookcases in a small amount of space is difficult. Sanding them took days. Refinishing the bookcases with one coat of pre-stain, three coats of stain and three coats of finish is going to take a few more days to complete. Can’t wait until the bookcases are back in the living room and the stacks of books are off the floor.
... making a list of all the home improvement projects I would like to get done but the list would be too long.
We plan to start working on living room after taking a long break from our projects. I am getting rid of some furniture, moving some from other rooms and buying a couple chairs. There’s a lot of projects to do and this is just the start of them.

This should keep us busy for a while. I will mark the projects off as they are completed. It’s time to go shopping and get a few supplies! It sounds like a lot, but will take less time than what we have planned for upstairs.
I planned to refinish an oak coffee table, but shopping trip, I realized a smaller round table that will give us a little more room than the square table.
Over-ripe bananas on top of small square of hot pink paper is not good for a Maple top island. I couldn’t remove all of the pink, so I decided to sand down the entire block and re-oil the wood with Boos Mystery Oil. It looks like new!
hudson85 is wondering where to start!
I have now successfully gravelled the garden! So it no longer looks like an overgrown jungle. However now it resembles a car park slightly so will have to get some green stuff back in there soon!
The backyard sprinklers were repaired today, but it wasn’t something that we are did ourselves. We discovered the sprinklers were leaking a couple weeks ago and realized the broken pipe was underneath the flagstone patio.
We probably could have made the repairs, but we needed it done quickly and our gardeners were available to help fix the problem. They have a lot more experience digging trenches, relocating pipes and repairing sprinklers. It took three people most of the day to make the repairs and involved installing about 90 feet of new pipe. If we attempted to do this project ourselves, it would have taken us at least a week and my husband would be very grumpy since he dislikes yard work, especially when it involves digging through decomposed granite and when the temperature is over 90 degrees. I think it was a wise decision not to do this project ourselves.
The gardeners also trimmed the giant bird of paradise and hibiscus, which was a nice surprise for us and one less thing that needs done in our yard.
...and many more to go. Today while we were cleaning the kitchen we noticed the caulking between the countertop and backsplash needed redone. We also caulked the undermount sink in the kitchen. The sink needs caulked about every 6 months but this is the first time the for the back of the counters.
...we are working on our kitchen project! Everything has been taken apart without damage. Most, if not all of the project should be finished this weekend. There may be a few delays, so that we can spend time with family but this project will be finished very soon. Taking apart the cabinets went very smoothly with only one trip to a home improvement store to get needed tools & supplies. We should have everything needed to complete the kitchen modifications. The pantry will be very close to the doorway into the dining room and if it’s too close we may have to make the entry a little smaller. Six months was a long time for the main refrigerator to be in a temporary location and I am looking forward to having it in the kitchen once again.
