I feel like it’s just getting harder & harder to achieve this goal…I’m doing it to myself.
graduated with a BFA in graphic design & didn’t even try to get a job in it. I just don’t feel like I’m good enough.
now the people i see around me who already have 3+ years experience are losing their design jobs & people with 7+ years are replacing them. I’m not sure how I could ever break into the field now with no real experience.
Goals:
to work harder to get to that confidence level.
create a portfolio I am happy with/proud of.
re-learn Creative Suite
ESPECIALLY
Dreamweaver & Flash
Start Small.
Try making business cards for friends/family.

The reality of the situation is that I can not, and I will not, sit in an office cubicle doing the same thing for the rest of my life. I need a career that is going to be excited to me and give me a creative outlet. I thought 2 years ago when I graduated with my degree in Public Relations that, that would do it, but it hasn’t. I remember when I was at my internship and they asked me to design their ads and other event and print materials, I was so happy and excited. I spent hours, maybe days, perfecting the images and when I was done, they were pleased with the results. I know there is alot of things I can learn as far as graphic design, but right now, I have to take baby steps. I am going to enroll into a Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign class and work up from there, hopefully, maybe going back to school and getting an AA degree or BA degree in Graphic Design. I am only 24, so I have plently of time to accomplish my dreams.

I’ve started taking classes now; hopefully it will help me reach this goal! :) I also plan to push myself to do independent projects and reading.

Ive wanted to become a graphic designer only recently now—3 years or so. I’m going to the university for that now. I did start going to college emphasizing in Painting/Drawing but I figured this career is more practical… at least with a bachelor’s degree.
It’s been stressful so far; got held back a year so I’m repeating two classes. I’ve had some horrible occurances with employers and interviews and such. But I’m in to deep to turn back now.
And if anything, I do have more of an appreciation for the art of graphic design… may even want to start my own business in the future 10 years from now.
And the best part of this goal is all I have to do is go to school and do what my teachers tell me (better this year than last year so I’m not held back again). Should be easy in theory at least.

vajapanties is working on being a better boyfriend by staying home with wifey.
I’ve always like the graphic arts but it seems as if this is where my life is heading. I find joy and satisfaction working and playing with anything that requires artistic expression. I know that there are the downfall as with any career, but i will probably start school next semester part time as i have a son and a woman to take care of! lol
