I decided that, instead of creating a list of New Year’s resolutions this year, I’d make a list of New Year’s solutions instead… Things I could accomplish quickly and fairly easily/inexpensively that would make life less complicated, more interesting or inspiring, and eliminate vexations.
One of the first items crossed off the list was to set up a wireless network if only to be able to listen to WWOZ online in any room of my home, anytime. The “alternative” radio stations where I live these days just don’t give me enough of what I enjoy hearing. I’d not realized just how much I’d missed being surprised and frequently delighted by tuning in at any random moment during the day; listening to CDs just wasn’t doing the trick.
Yes, it’s a geeky solution… But it’s hard to beat personal instant gratification, regardless of how it was achieved. ;) What’s the point of embracing changes in technology if the so-called improvements don’t inspire a genuine grin every now and again?
Dancin’ the funky butt with verve in my kitchen 2,700+ miles away from the source of inspiration… Priceless. Life is good.
