I learned on a standard and am so glad that I did. after learning how to drive stick I have driven an automatic twice and it’s not challenging or as fun. driving a standard enables you to keep more control over your car and speed. plus I love being a girl who knows how to drive a standard, and does it well. definitely worth the effort and frustration put into it. I’m also glad that if I’m put in any position where I would absolutely have to drive a stick I can. I have a standard right now and I probably will never buy an automatic.

FINALLY!! 22 months ago

I can’t say I’m very good at it yet, and remembering which gear to go to next is still hanging me up a bit…but I can do it. So even though I still need to improve, I can finally take this off the list

The Only Way To Go! 2 years ago

There’s something so exciting about driving a 5-speed.
Everyone should be able to!

I have to learn to do this!! 2 years ago

We are picking up our new car in two days and I have driven a standard only twice in my life…20 plus years ago! My hubby used to drive a truck for a living so for him, this will be easy but teaching me may end us up in DIVORCE!

Once I finally buckled down and made myself drive my dad’s car, I was fine. I basically feel comfortable driving it, although I still prefer my mom’s automatic!

my dad just bought a stick shift truck to drive around the farm. i have never learned how to drive. it’s hard! i decided i would try to learn the other day and i got so frustrated after about 20 minutes that i gave up!

Why am i doing this? 3 years ago

because my bf bought me a car that is a standard!!! i have a regular car, but now i have 2 cars – 1 for winter and 1 for summer if i am able to learn it by the end of the summer!!! as an added incentive, he is giving me a stereo in the standard car for my b-day!
