New Bed

3 adults in a queen sized bed is… too cozy? As well as our mattress is old & our bed frame is falling apart. Again- waiting on tax refund.

How to buy a new bed
It made me
so happy
 "I don't recommend this reason, but moving is what helped me get off my bed and get a new one."
How I did it: First thing I did was move. Out of state. New house, new town, new and improved bedroom. Couldn't possibly start a new life with the same old bed that provided me little rest. I tested out a lot of beds. Was ill-prepared for the whopping price at first so had to abandon searches a couple of times. Then went out, with a list of bed brands I liked, stores that carried it, and a budget.
Lessons & tips: Figure out the size your room can handle. Research beds by your budget and required firmness. Knowing what you want helps narrow down stores, brands, and informs your salesperson that you have a budget and you are sticking to it. Resources: I had access to Consumer Reports. Godsend.

How I did it: Have a look in the classifieds. You can pick up an excellent bed base there, whether it's new or old, you can do it up to your liking. This is how we did it. We managed to find a second hand ikea base from someone who was moving. $50, a bargain! We already had a mattress, so it wasn't too expensive. Read how I did it…

Gaelen’s parents bought him (I guess us) one for his birthday/christmas.
It is glorious. Except for that all the frames are sold out (guh, IKEA), so we have to wait for that. So the bed is still mighty creaky, but at least it is super comfy!

The bed is fantastic and the best purchase we’ve ever made. The ultraplush pillowtop is like sleeping on mashed potatoes! And the frame fits into our room perfectly but still leaves us space to move around easily. There are solid wood pillars at the top and bottom of the frame so it looks square and heavy. Basically we’re just super happy! :)

It’s being delivered next Tuesday, the 23rd. We got a free comforter set with it…can’t wait…hopefully nothing goes wrong! IF it all goes well, I can check this goal off in one week…

We went to Slumberland and put a hold on the bed and mattress we want! The mattress is a Sealy ultraplush and the bed frame is HUGE and pretty. It sits up kinda high, though. Total, it comes to $950. It will be delivered somewhere around the 25th. Can’t wait…

We want to get a new bed with my tuition refund. We went to Ashley Furniture and found a great Queen-sized, plush pillowtop set for $550. The price is a little high… and we’re going to another place today to see if they have any cheaper ones. Plus we want to pick up a new frame, preferably dark wood. I’m excited!
