Tonight I’ve finished my FIRST pair of mittens and have already started on my second.
What a great feeling!

It has ALWAYS been a goal of mine to obtain the ability to knit a pair of mittens. Well today I finished mitten #1. It’s a little long in the finger area but otherwise perfect! On to the next mitt!
I really like to knit, but I only know how to knit things that are square or rectangular. I really want to learn how to knit socks, mittens, hats or maybe even a sweater.
My sister gave me a bunch of yarn for my birthday so maybe I’ll try with that. Wish me luck!
That’s not “tick” as in, small brown biting annoyance.
It’s “TICK” as in, done, finito, tout fini, etcetera! I have finished my first non-scarf knitting project. (A baby blanket is a big square scarf – really, bit it big and bad or otherwise.) I am SO freakin’ excited. I’m kind of trying to be a little calm in case I bugger it up during the blocking process but… so far it’s looking damn good if I do say so myself.
Ah, the pride of accomplishment!
I’d highly recommend this pattern for relatively new knitters. If you can master K & P and are pretty good at casting on (1095 stitches anyone?!) then you can handle this. I used the spiff-eriific Addi Turbo circular needles in a 60” length. It got a bit fussy at the end when 60” was overkill for 30 or less stitches but… it was so worth it.
Thanks to my cheering squad and coach Venessa who let me insert row 8b when I’d obviously goofed and mis-knit the previous row (ending with WAY too many stitches still).
On to the next project!
People! Do you know how excited I was to finish this last night? It wasn’t even really that hard… once I stopped fumbling my stupid slippery needles around :)
I finished the Big Bad Baby Blanket. Well, no, I have to FINISH the blanket still. But the knitting is done.
I don’t count it as more than a scarf because it was just K & P and no shape at all BUT I am very proud to have finished it! It’s not perfect, it’s got lots of humility squares (so called by my quilting friend) but it is finished!
Thanks to Debbie Stoller’s “Stitch & Bitch” book – the pattern is in there. It was fun to do and could be done quickly if you don’t make it extra large and double-stranded… leave it to me to make a project complex. Ha!
Good night world :)
I’m making a fancy wrap/shawl. I can’t wait :) This is the pattern I chose: http://www.anniesattic.com/knitting/detail.html?prod_id=20101 and it’s a dark charcoal with silver accents in a kid merino wool.
Yippee!
