It was a unique experience, though not one I care to repeat. I am willing to admit that perhaps it was just what i ordered.. or maybe even where I got it, but overall, i found it unpleasant.

    First experience 2 years ago

... was over twenty years ago, in Houston. I ordered the pho, not knowing what to expect. The waitperson comes out with something that looks like a large salad, only instead of lettuce, the leaves are aromatic. My dinner date and I weren’t sure what to make of this, so we started eating it as if it was salad. After a good laugh at our expense, they showed us that the green stuff goes into the soup. ;-)

(which reminds me of a funny place in this area called “What the Pho” .. no idea if the food’s any good.)

Try? What's this "try" business? 2 years ago

Even my younger daughter, the incredibly fussy eater, loves pho (hold the onions and the green leaves).

    Favorite food 2 years ago

I have eaten this food, frequently, throughout my entire life. My parents would have Vietnamese food every Saturday, for years and years. I know how to order my food in Vietnamese and it always seems to raise an eyebrow when I do so as I am not from Vietnamese descent. I highly recommend this delightful cuisine.

that go on just about everything.

My usual dish is bbq beef with vermicelli, or if i go at lunch time that yellow/green pancake with pork mince and sprouts in it.

Of all the Asian cuisines I've tried 3 years ago

Vietnamese is my favorite. I love the contrasts and meldings of hot with cold, salt and sweet, and the textural varieties in every dish. Never gets redundant.

    Mmmmm! um! 3 years ago

One of my favourite foods! I love the rare beef pho soup! And the fried spring rolls, and the beef sate with spicy peanut sauce! The majority of Vietnamese food is very healthy and all so tasty! In Toronto their is a large Vietnamese community so we have an abundance of restaurants! We even have Cambodian food! I am so lucky that Toronto is such a diverse place..we have the best of everything here!

And I can’t remember why I haven’t been for so many years. It was so tasty. I’ll be back.
