I’ve signed up with the group at www.getup.org.au – they do campaigns of letter-writing, billboards and even one sky-writing event over Parliament House. Seems like they’re well-organised and the co-ordinated efforts have a good impact, as they’ve had several successful campaigns already. You can even suggest your own campaign if you’ve got a good idea. In the last few months I haven’t received any spam from them so they’re not flogging the email addresses.

Wrote to my Federal MP about climate change 3 years ago

... and got a really good reply, with a copy of the Labor party’s policies. The policies are actually more comprehensive than I expected, so I wrote back to say a) thanks for not sending a form-letter reply, b)those are good policies and c)no-one’s heard of your good policies, you should promote them more.

    RU486 3 years ago

Have sent a letter to my local member. Will send letters to senators if the bill proceeds.

Have written a letter regarding RU486 in Australia. If the vote passes through the senate then I’ll send to some state senators as well (not Joyce and Boswell, a waste of paper and stamps;-)).

    Vanstone 4 years ago

I wrote a letter to Amanda Vanstone about her appalling joke yesterday regarding the Comrie report. What an heartless excuse for a human being. I didn’t call her that though:). I’m sure she won’t read it but it feels slightly more productive to actually try to contact them than to just blog about how pissed off I am. And besides, I am bored at work:).

Apparently I can’t give my smileys a nose because it strikes through everything that follows:-/.

Presumably I want to do this so they can write letters that leave me incredibly disheartened. Tis frustrating indeed.
